I can't help but wonder how much effort the police spent caching the original mugger, compared with convicting a young woman for what easily could have been a mistake.
It's obvious that the dirt was brought out because Starmer didn't have control over her. It's horrid knowing that this is how all of top level politics works. Conform or we'll blackmail you.
It is hard not to see Starmer’s fingerprints on this one. He gets flaky at the first whiff of bad news. His poorly-judged response to the ULEZ controversy in London comes to mind. I think Haigh did not jump but was pushed.
Assuming it’s political, I don’t even get the logic.
Annoy your base by forcing out a popular Minister for a minor crime a decade ago. For what? Maybe pick up a few disgruntled Tories who haven’t defected to Reform yet?
Dominic Cummings may be right. This could be a one term government.
She is a human being at least. She answered questions incisively and without waffle. She had an obvious passion for railways and public transport. She was not just a career politician using Transport as a stepping stone to greater glory.
To be honest, I don't care much for the Tory adjacent party. But I'm gonna question those who blithely post without researching as happened at the beginning of this thread
I agree that there is far too much exaggeration, inaccuracy and sloppy language on social media. I wish people would think before posting and be a bit more accurate and measured.
I've voted Labour every time since coming to the UK, even despite my distrust of Corbyn I still voted for the party under him. Starmer's Labour though has dismantled any hope the party may have offered and I switched to the Greens this year for that reason.
UK is crazy, we can have a prime minister who lies, cheats, is racist, breaks their own laws, does cocaine in Westminster toilets etc etc but we can't have a transport minister who incorrectly reported their phone missing.
For those wondering what this is referring to, Louise Haigh has quit transport Secretary for an extremely minor offence back in 2013- this was all declared when she applied to be an MP, and when she joined the Shadow cabinet. such a total nonstory by my reading.

I wake up to none.
