Nah I’m gate keeping all of it 😂 personally I’ve always been a huge fan of the guyver so I’d recommend that one. The fire emblem ova is short but it’s really good. The Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals is a decent one too.

So far I've been thinking Vision of Escaflowne, Slayers, Magic Knight Rayearth and Yu Yu Hakusho

This isn't necessarily about your favs, but animes that 1) aged well 2) don't necessarily have a rebooted more manga accurate version 3) you think would appeal to kids in their late teens early 20s

if you don't mind a rando weighing in— 3x3 eyes, Berserk, Lodoss, Gunnm/Battle Angel, Nadia, Armitage III, Utena, Digimon: Our War Game... i suppose it has a remake, but the 1993-1994 JJBA OVA is spectacular, more of a film than a series (much better than its 00 or the 2012 version)

Idk how its aged because I haven't watched it in centuries lol but I remember The Big O being really good, and also the fact that Inuyasha isn't on the list of anime they know is a crime lol also it's not technically 90s but Samurai 7 is my all time favorite and the only one I've watched in entirety

Serial Experiments Lain is a good suggestion, and it reminds me about Boogiepop Phantom as well. MSN had a lot going for it, but that cliffhanger ending that never got a real resolution might be frustrating for a modern audience

That was a cute adaptation of the story and not too long. And Ah! My Goddess was definitely one of the better harem comedies of the era
