16 years is an absolutely impressive time for a cat, and I'm sure she was as happy as she could be even how her health went. I hope her rest is as peaceful as possible.
This is a weird coincidence, but I also lost my Cookie yesterday. They were the same age and both were little black cats. I haven’t had it in me to draw, but this comic represents how I’m feeling as well. Thanks for sharing this emotion, and I’m sorry you’re going through it.

this is such a perfect representation of how it feels getting home after losing a pet, man. for weeks after my dog passed last year i kept expecting to see him around and kept getting reminded by the loss of his presence that he was gone. shit sucks man i hope you get through it ok

Oh no Mia used to be a real bully! Though it was just cats…... she was pretty terrified of dogs after one tried to attack her (thankfully she was safe)

I feel this, I had 3 boys, my little buddy, the runt of the litter who grew to be everyone's pudgy buddy passed away. I still see him in the corner of my eye, I know its silly to get hopeful but I look everytime. His brothers are still with me, and I strive to do everything right by the 3 of them

I lost Mocha earlier this year - now I sometime look at Kona my fluffy house panther and call her Mocha - without Kona, I would have been in really rough shape. Mia will always be with you.
It never gets easier. I've lost a handful of cats to various causes over the last few years and every time I see a post like this I have to get in a good cry.

Mia was always kind and friendly to me. She would join me in my computer room and watch what I was doing, and would sometimes chill in my lap. Absolute sweetheart of a cat.

1/2 Sixteen is a really good, long run. My first was 14 when I had to make the call. I'd had him since I was 10-11. We've had others come and go since then, and it never really gets easier to know when to make the call versus worrying you're just "giving in." Focus on the old photos/videos/memories.
2/2 It really helps to see them in their prime or even just a few years before they started heading downhill and compare those moments to your recent memories when it comes to assuaging some of the guilt that maybe you didn't do enough or "gave up" too soon. Good luck. <3
omg I was actually feeling this way as I was digging through old Mia comics.. there was a notable difference in her behaviour. I’m so sorry :( Losing a beloved pet is never easy.. it’s easy for my memories to get tainted negatively so I know ultimately it’s better to remember them fondly and cling to those blissful times as best we can. I hope your grieving becomes more manageable over time, your pet was lucky to have you

The first days after my Ra-kitty passed, I dreamt about him. A few days in, he spoke (because dreams) and told me it was okay to be sad. That was a greater kindness than I ever deserved.
