Clerk of court in a neighboring county demanded her staff (all women) always wore pantyhose or pants. Nails had to be done professionally. No ponytails.
This is wild to me. On the moot court team we were encouraged to wear pants to avoid the issue of judges making decisions based on the length of the skirt, and also in case we were sitting in a room with stadium seating.
I believe you. Im glad you had that support. I’m not sure why you don’t believe that in the working world at one time we were told something different.
One of the reason some women barristers over here prefer the traditional wig & gown (in most courts now, barristers just wear normal business attire) is because it's unisex & also kind of degendering—with hair covered & body shape hidden, it kind of evens the playing field between men & women.
