Folks are dunking on this, but as someone who has spent a good deal of time criticizing specific NYT stories, it is actually good that more media people are on here and engaging in this space. The more media people are here relative to Twitter the better the site is. (Ducks).

I actually had an interaction with what I think was a maga person today. They mentioned Tim Walz abandoned his unit when the were called up. I posted a fact check link and the response was just.. “oh thank you.” It makes me think I need to be more patient as they try to escape X.

Not incessant reposts of the same story or petty nonsense about whether *someone* said something stupid on X or Truth Social.
I am keen to block activists doing both. I got away from X because of the negative impact this sort of chain posting caused.

It's an act of futility to stay on a network of misinformation to always try to catch the lies and tell everyone... it's like trying to put out a raging fire with a glass of water... rage and hate and lies wont stop, just by calling them out. we've been doing that... i think leaving does more.

That's pretty much how twitter began. People getting real-time (local, regional) news before it hit the real media and airwaves, which is one reason twitter was so valuable. Unfortunately, that very same thing is now being used for the opposite: to sow "real time" misinfo and propaganda.

I started using Twitter as a place to vent my rage against trump 45 and his machine. In 2020, for me it became more of a place to get the latest news. I hope more journos and op columnists start using BlueSky. I never want to go back.

I agree too, but if they come and start with their bothsideisms or obfuscation that make that guy normal, it's insta-block time. Journalism is fact based not opinion and let's be honest, some people can write provocative & eloquently to sway opinions, but be devoid of truth & that's what sells

* unfortunately that's what sells. Sorry. I am tough on journalists because I grew up in a time where that profession was held to higher standards and the great ones always told us what we needed, not what we wanted to hear. I miss good reliable fact based journalism.

I’m glad to see more here and I know this means advertisers will be coming to help pay for the site. It’s a balancing act but as long as BlueSky doesn’t go the way of twitter and meta we are better for it
