I guess with Trump steering this ship into sharp rocks surrounded by shark infested waters, I guess being an "economist" is like being the new weather man. You can be insanely wrong with your predictions, and face no consequences for failure. Much like Trump himself.
We need a Smithsonian of 1) exaggerations, lies & gaslighting
2) one for awful predictions by those who not only profess to be experts but profit from that claim
3) racist/bigoted actions/slurs etc
4) of people connected to criminals, or apparent crimes even when those crimes aren’t prosecuted
The installation would be this tweet enlarged in the middle of a large hall, hanging floor to ceiling, with black and white printouts of Geiger Capital’s Substack articles pasted on the floor for everyone to walk on.
dude still owes a public apology to the (fairly smart) partisans of the Left, who seem to have accrued a pretty good track record of predicting Trump policies by *checks notes* listening to what he has said and taking it at face value.
It's probably far more complicated and nuanced than this, but basically Congress has given up a lot of their power to the presidency, including power over tariffs. They did this because these are hard issues that can lose votes for them, and they'd rather spend time raising money for re-election.
But it’s not. The president only has emergency powers. I do not understand why no one has taken him to court saying that this is not an emergency as defined in the IEEPA and force the issue
We know Trump lies a lot about things that have happened, but he also tells the truth about his intentions. If he says he's going to do something, or try to, believe him.
I'm not saying all of it is true (especially not things he said on the campaign trail), but that he will definitely try all of the terrible, crazy things he spouts on about. They won't all work first time, but he's busy eroding the justice system to make sure they'll work next time.
Oh, absolutely. He's ridiculously easy to manipulate - pander to his ego then put something in front of him in a way that appeals to him, and he'll just run with it. Last time he surrounded himself with sycophants, this time he's surrounded by manipulators.

But yea; he’s a tool.
He doesn’t care if it all burns down so long as he can make a fast buck out of it.
I’ve restrained myself from screaming ‘I told you so!!!! ‘
Also that healthcare plan that was gonna be better & cheaper than ObamaCare.
So maybe a grain of salt?
