It was almost like this when my old friend picked me up at the airport 3 months ago. It had been 21 years since I'd physically seen them and they had transitioned in that time, but they were still my old friend and nothing will change that in my mind. (I even gave them a klingon hug of welcome)

And I say almost, because I didn't deadname them at first (I was very careful not to, despite all the emotions threatening to overcome me then)
And i hope they know how much they mean to me. They saved me from hurting myself as a teen, and from doing it again this year.
I'm so lucky to have them.

It wasn't intended to be, but it's been seen that way from the first appearance of the Trill. It was meant to be pro-homo "If you love someone, why does their gender matter?" And became pro-trans "If this is who you are, you're still you." Very excellent .
