I can’t look at funkopops without seeing a wasteful display of commodified greed. They are soulless idols of corporate idolization. The antithesis of art.

On principle they're absolute trash
(Glad I'm not the only one with this seemingly unpopular opinion.)
Also, I’ve grown to appreciate not “needing” to own merch - I can simply just watch the thing again, especially if the items aren’t practical use!
b) the figurines aren’t even the characters but a *representation* of them. The design strips the humanity from the characters & their stories.
Compare it to a hand-drawn piece of a scene from your favourite movie 👀
e) visually AND environmentally wasteful
the boxes lined on walls has to be the most anti-aesthetic thing I’ve ever witness. Makes my body have a physical reaction
the plastic.. theyll be on this earth until it explodes https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2023/03/07/funko-pop-figure-inventory-hits-landfill/11420277002/#:~:text=Funko%20plans%20to%20send%20%2430,its%20fourth-quarter%20earnings%20report.
I have funko pops, I have ones for franchises that it's actually difficult to get merchandise for.
I personally think your money is better spent on commissioning an artist for work of a niche franchise 💗
Though I feel people know that they aren't great, they aren't sought after, that's why they aren't popular or left in discount bins.
Literally the reason social networks should exist.
I agree with it, but just saying, it's wild how unpopular it is.
They're also just more bloody plastic. Like we need that.
Yeah, you're right. 😅
People could get quality commissions of characters in their fandoms for the price of a Funko, lots of artists work cheaply.
The delusion that mass produced garbage is 'collectable' is doing a lot of heavy lifting for Funko.
Remember Buffy/The Zeppo where Xander decides to become "the car guy"?
