No objective reporters should be on Twitter. Our presence these directly supports an extremist far right political project. I hope some others heard my case and will follow that example.

Twitter has also clearly been a massive security risk to users for some time. I have no idea what anyone would attempt to do with access to my account and was not interested in finding out.
Elon Musk is thr only reason anyone from Russia or anywhere else was able to access my Twitter. He eliminated the text based security I used as a verified journalist. The code verification he replaced it with was evidently ineffective.
Authenticator apps should generally be safer in that SMS can be hijacked a lot more easily. Even better is a physical token like a yubikey, even with the issue reported with them yesterday (which requires physical access and some equipment).
But they still need to be implemented properly to work.
My Twitter was set up in 2013, & then forgotten. I am a tiny minnow on Twitter, as on here, which is fine. My Twitter user name included the word Storm... Since 2018, I've had multiple offers to "buy" my account - assuming these are Q Anon whackos &/or foreign Disinformation peeps wanting the name
I’m sorry to hear about your Twitter account. Objective reporters shouldn’t really be on that platform. However, being in Brazil, I no longer have access to Twitter and feel isolated, disconnected from a broader global conversation.
