Thank you Pearls & Irritations for providing this balanced account of what Labor has achieved in 1 term. Your list of 26 significant pieces of legislation demonstrates Labor is providing real benefits to everyday Australians rather than only to a small minority #Labor2ndTerm #VoteLNPlast
Don't have an issue with ALP achievements but @albomp.bsky.social has been utterly spineless. Has failed us with issues of integrity. NACC that is a pollie protection racket, no due diligence with AUKUS & subservience to USA, refused media RC, Zionist sycophant, abhorrent refugee legislation..etc
...& left wing think tanks & the Greens & likely the left wing segment of the media that has always alligned itself with the Greens do that they aren't in the cross-hairs of their larger owners.
I repost in fairness and acknowledge the achievements of Labor, however, we are not complaining about the positive things Labor have implemented, we rightfully complain about the broken promises, changes of direction and Liberal policies they’ve embraced.

Yep, but he has made some shocking decisions 🤷
Obviously now is not the time to give Liberals ammunition but it’s a perfect time to hold Labor to account and demand better.
An election is the only time any party appears to listen to the electorate so we cannot miss this opportunity to demand better.
I do have to push back on this. The government never said they would stop aukus before the election. I think the deal sucks and all that has come out after sucks, but we burnt the other suppliers and have a huge capability gap.
I agree it wasn’t part of their campaign, but every part of it, from the cost, the nuclear aspect, American bases & personnel, adopting US military strategy, is so totally against normal Labor core principles, commonsense dictated, to most supporters, that it would be cancelled or heavily modified.
Whether or not it was consistent with orthodox Labor policy it was a bad deal. We now know it was just Boris stitching up the French but it was always clearly a bad deal for Australia
But it has done precious little in some very important areas.
- cutting actual carbon emissions, carbon mining
❌
- implementing integrity and transparency ❌
- raising welfare above poverty level, improving equity ❌
- treating refugees humanely ❌
it is called Realpolitik, based on given circumstances and factors, rather than strictly following ideological, moral, or ethical premises i.e realistic and pragmatic attempt at damage control. What choice does he really have when MSM in Australia is a monopoly.?
Given how Labor’s rhetoric so often aligns perfectly with the MSM and ABC’s ‘Murdoch’ leadership on let’s say for example, antisemitism and Palestine - maybe it’s more than just ‘realpolitik’ and actually just full compliance or even ideological agreement with conservatives.
unlikely, good examples of "no win" Reapolitik though, plus he has to court the mining lobby on many issues to avoid their money crushing him even further in the media. Sadly Labour always wedged on every issue, but, wish they had more balls!
The balls are unnecessary! just a commitment to actual serious change before the near-inevitable, next future Coalition govt, would be nice to see indeed!
The Medicare one is misleading. The number of bulk billing clinics is the lowest it's ever been. There's been some action, but it's miniscule compared to what's needed.
4 me is not about no do govt, it's about priorities, promises and values.
Gaza, climate action, transparency, poverty, aukus all speak to one of these facets. How anyone can excuse the duopoly on genocide denial 🤔 is absolutely beyond me and bodes poorly for our collective futures.
I don't excuse them but our choices are limited and I'm not voting LNP. Whatever we feel about things left undone, the LNP would have made it all 20 times worse. What is your answer? If it's not voting for anyone that's what happened in the US Presidential election... & Trumps 1000 X worse.
The post pandemic economy has been tough all over the world.
Voters expectations of their leaders are high and we can see what happened in the US when a lot of people lost hope.
I want to give Labor 3 more years.
I don't want the Morrison experience back.
A lot of complaints are niche gripes State govts are responsible for. In any case anyone can stand for parliament... why not the people doing all the complaining?
Your media literacy - fail
Ability to access information not spoon-fed to you - fail
Don't parrot Murdoch propaganda - fail
Say something relevant and grounded in reality - fail
For someone with a keen eye for Murdoch propaganda, you might want to consider why you Labor stans are running with the exact same lines that sunk the Democrats lol.
I've been criticising Labor for being Democratslite for literally over a decade now
Calling me a Labor stan is hilarious since I used to shit on em relentlessly but then I TOOK OWNERSHIP AND JOINED THEM rather than continue to talk shit on the internet
Getting in on the action - well done, i suppose? Keep us updated on how the change from within is going.
Forgive me if i still can’t help but read it as Labor stanism when Frank’s assessment is very justifiable, so your dismissal of them continues to have that appearance.
They've done plenty. The highlights for me have been Labor's full backing of Israel's genocide against the Palestinians, commitment to continuing the human rights abuses against asylum seekers/refugees, unbreakable ties to the fossil fuel industry, and keeping AUKUS. Sterling effort.
Sadly that's one of the traps of geopolitics, we can't ever displease our powerful friend apparently. And our powerful friend cannot displease its Jewish masters I don't know why. This situation for us is abhorrent and not one we find acceptable.
It's hard to believe any of the 'Teal' Indies will give their support to a climate denying party like Dutton's... it's their core purpose for being in politics at all.
