That’s how civil disobedience works, obviously, so this is not to disparage the protesters, but they allegedly “repeatedly refused to stop blocking the entrances and walkway”, i.e. they intended to get arrested to get the headlines; fair enough, but is the admin really at fault?

It's the Ackman Effect. The goal for this school year is to break the back of anti-genocide student activism, and unlike the wildcat protests which popped up with no warning last year, this year they've had all Summer to plan and prepare for how to brutalize these kids for daring speak out.

Tony Judt would probably be deeply ashamed of his home institutions actions over the past year. He was one of the most thoughtful and compassionate observers of events in Palestine. I wish we still had his voice.

This is horrifying. The fact that, it seems, it was several Jewish faculty members in solidarity with Palestine who were targeted and then apparently arrested, yet this will *not* be considered an antisemitic action by NYU and the NYPD, makes me (someone who despises/opposes antisemitism) quite mad.
