actually one of my beefs with Martha Stewart's service was that SHE DIDN'T EVER SEND GARLIC, at all, so if I *didn't* have any around I had to make a run to the store which sort of defeated the whole purpose of the thing

There's a Canadian version called Chef's Plate and if the recipe called for a clove of garlic they'd throw in an entire bulb. I suspect it was just cheaper to do it that way.
