Yup, that’ll happen. My guess is one of the ones you’ve read is What a Carve Up? If it is, you’ll like his latest, which my wife, a long-standing JC fan, rates on a par with his great novel.

That's how I discovered his work: I read that there was a reference to "Tales from Topographic Oceans" in The Rotters' Club. As a Yes fan, I had to find out who was the writer crazy enough to mention that LP in a novel. I've been a fan ever since.

What a Carve Up! has to be first on the list. And then you could do the trilogy of The Rotters' Club, The Closed Circle and then Middle England. Or, just knock off Expo '58.

I think there might be some joy to be had reading them out of order ... so I think I read ME first and there are connections, obviously. Similarly in Expo 57.

Anyway, the kids bought me a signed copy of The Proof ... for my birthday and I was dead chuffed.

I read Rupert Thomson's The Insult around 25 years ago, and whilst enjoying, hadn't thought much about it or him since. Until last year that is, when I was reintroduced through the superb Barcelona Dreaming. I've read a further 4 since, with a handful still to go at. The Book of Revelation...oh my!
