We probably all need to become more blatantly anti-Silicon Valley.
Give me less innovation, and more soul. New technology doesn’t mean infinite progress especially without being grounded in what it means to be human.

Maybe Trump can do a trade deal where Brussels takes all our MTA contractors and subway masturbators.
The self correction for this in functional capitalism is financial ruin. Good thing they did away with that with their Ponzi schemes and public bailouts 😭
They just take mouldy old CompSci stuff from the 1970s, old Cult of the Dead Cow papers and various PoC nonsense from the 90s and 00s... and pretend they invented something new
MIT isn't even located in Silicon Valley
Which, Silicon Valley is not located in England either
Also, most of the people being douche bags to CWC were not part of Silicon Valley either
So, they didn't even do any of the work on techno-facism either
I mean, Moot used Babelfish to translate the imageboard software to English. He did none of the work there
I studied tech since i was 6 because i wanted to make the world a better place.
Got a job and realized everything they wanted me to build was a scam and i left.
Don't know where to put these skills to good use now.
In 2017 a mathematician proved that there was an upper bound to what ai could do with the current model, but we kept working at it because we hadn't reached it yet. They are suddenly shoving it into everything is because the upper limit is here.
Ai isn't getting much better, the data shows it.
This year they claim 176th best programmer in the world by entering it in a competition with 175 programmers.
It's a sham. It's trash and it needs some innovation in the field.
I check out fusion - pump and dump
Robots, ditto
Self-driving taxis, ditto
AI, ditto, ditto
And I loath how they get contracts for stuff my developers could do for naff all

AI was the last chance saloon and it is as far as it can go - a glorified search engine. We all have the nice, cheap Chinese one now.
There appears to be a massive amount of hype to grab money (investment)
Fusion
Robots
Self-driving cars
All rubbish
But the idea that it'll fix everything when in actuality it's the cause of just so much unneeded stress & takes away from real solvable problems, it probably started off differently but silicon valley is a sham.
This doesn’t happen as much in Europe. It’s why I blame SV.
You can discuss changes to a theory of how it might work, but we have all seen that gentrification ruins neighbourhoods and cities.
SF has been destroyed by tech and then abandoned by it.
I grew up in Cupertino when there were orchards. The founders of the Valley were hippies. Innovation used to be delightful and for good. I watched it become increasingly tech bro and profit driven. 1/2
Problems are not so much Valley as tech bros and greedy VC, regardless of place.
We need a recovery program for America to leave it's sociopaths, in tech and government. 2/2
I’m from the South and SV hasn’t been a big inspiration for me and Mississippi has historically had more innovators than SV.
Delta music is art, and you’re right to be inspired by it. But tech IS art as well, regardless of your opinions.
You are comparing looking at a computer chip to the delta blues? Seriously? lol.
He was an asshole, but it feels like he had some vibes.
It’s grifts, enshittification, nazi-ism, and monopolies that are bad.
Musk, Thiel, Vance, etc.
Heck, as a gamer I see some really shady stuff with these companies... *cough* Ubisoft *cough*
or
Freedom for you and your society.
Until, we figure out how to fix the tech bro dudes, that's the choice.
There is a problem with their world view and ethics. It's not only a few people, either.
We need to reduce our reliance on their products.
And I support indie game developers over big companies like Ubisoft.
This isn't a zero sum game.
So it isn't hard actually finding options.

The 'infinite progress' thing applies to all stocks, not just silicon valley, its a late stage capitalism thing, its widespread.
It would need to be a movement, and all won't participate. I don't need their innovations any longer. This is enough.
If innovative tech means, they are in charge, I don't want it.

There's still a lot of good stuff that comes out of San Jose or Washington state. We just need to tamp down some of the insanity, the way we tamp down oil companies
This comment makes no sense.
He's not a Texas guy.
He's not even a California guy.
He's South African.
A foreigner is running the country.
Also street electric railways with high level boarding instead of low floor
Are you an engineer?
How do you feel about "Sherman did nothing wrong." ?
What was all the rave on the computer was Badger Badger Mushroom Mushroom. And we laughed with joy.

The more money that is sucked away from the working and middle classes, the less we develop - and those are the classes that innovate.
Not the gormless t**** who sit on their money
Very simple concepts at work here, honestly.
Wealth without work.
Commerce without morality.
