My understanding is that the STA board decided to cease accepting advertising after a dispute with a bus drivers union that wanted to place ads on buses.

Several local jurisdictions have long held contracts with advertisers for providing benches at STA bus stops. Two examples. The example along SR 904 has been replaced by a shelter owned and maintained by STA.

Would note that structure of contracts do matter *if* the advertiser is directly providing an amenity with advertising on it versus just doing advertising general on or near general assets. Seattle’s Intersection deal involved immediate maintenance and repair

And who knows, maybe the local jurisdiction did and just isn’t enforcing the contract/permit agreement, but irresponsible if so
