A millionaire co-founder of real estate investment firm, who bragged about not paying taxes, offered to throw cash at any concierge private fire department to protect only *his* house.

I wouldn't even mind so much if they paid appropriate taxes and supported the local government, including the fire department, with supplies they need and whatever.
I know people who have been fortunate and do things like that, (but they don't have their own fire dept).
Someone's set your house on fire!
The Rich - where's the fire truck, where's the police? I pay your wages!
Fire Fighters IS a thing!?
Kim and Kanye have them,
of course they do
Door Dash/Uber/Firetruck sitting around?
Or that there was a pay as you go, bootleg fire department?
Wealthy people hate socialism until they need the help,
this IS a thing
Kim and Kanye have
Private Fire Fighters
Of course they do SMH
Should have thought of that
Remember, he insisted on living across the street after the split
Private firefighting companies are a growth industry today, so I guess we'll have to learn that lesson all over again.
"I have a right to..."
"It's my right to..."
"You can't stop me from..."
As long as the culture prioritizes the individual over the collective, this will never go away.

Reagan set us on this path
and his actions were the culmination of 40 years of backlash against the New Deal
I knew people who complained about the New Deal constantly in the 80's, and social security and "nanny state"
Dunno
So we should have seen it coming
Don't tell anyone
What a self-entitled prick. And a moron to think there would be “private” firefighters that would *save* his home. First off, all of those trying to stave off the fires use PUBLICLY & TAXPAYER supported fire hydrants that have been drained of water.
So where the fuck he thinks water to save his property is coming from shows his idiocy.
If he had the time, he should have packed up items he deemed irreplaceable & gotten the heck outta dodge when the possibility of a fire coming even remotely close to his property was hinted at happening.
At that point traffic would likely still be moving and he could have gotten out safely. I’m betting his property is gone. What a dumbass.
I have to wonder what it is about human behaviour that creates this denial when it comes to how a nearby disaster could affect us. It’s like we lose all common sense. I know I’d probably be in denial if a wildfire was close to me. I’d be thinking “no it won’t happen” and then it would. 🤷🏻♀️

"It would be unconscionable to have water available but not being used for all."
Abso-fucking-lutely
Some of the footage I’ve seen echoes that of the fires in Lāhainā on Maui. 😔
I've no idea how many tenders a private company might have though. Definitely not as many as California.
Wonder what brought that to mind.
Private fire companies were... Unsuccessful.

If we ignore them, they come after us. Their need for validation is ceaseless.
That takes all the lack of awareness money can buy.
All loss is sad but resources need to be shared.

It’s like we learned absolutely nothing from all of those ‘80s Hollywood cautionary tales.
Where are the brilliant attorneys who can bring challenges to the SCOTUS? We need a Congress who can and will outlaw money in politics. We need to work to regain the WH, House and Senate.

Don’t come at me for wishing him the same harm his neighbors have suffered.
If only he had paid taxes to have a socialist fire department!
And the idea that none of the grown ups knew until it started collapsing is a fiction.
We lives for a few years surrounded by foreclosures and picking up people's strays who were abandoned.😢
