There have been more articles about Bluesky being a liberal echo chamber in the past week than there were about Nazis being reinstated and boosted for the 2 years Musk has owned Twitter.

There is nothing liberal (or conservative) about the expectation that politicians will abide by the rule of law and not conspire over many generations to corrupt every single institution of the US Government. There is nothing conservative about all citizens being treated equally.
True. Jealousy. We enjoy our space much more. We don't have Elon Musk here tweeting every minute his every day more extreme right wing ideas. Also, I feel I'm better heard. On X, I had limited reach. Permanently. In the end I was talking to myself...I can breathe here.
But why would I want to hear views from the maggots?! they have no useful information to give and they spread nothing but lies and conspiracy theories. I don’t wanna hear that stuff!
It’s almost as if a ton of journalists with tens of thousands of ghost followers are fishing for rationalizations as to why many of their real followers shouldn’t leave them for another platform.
There is no question Elon rigged the app in favour of fragile abusive conservative men who previously had been utterly owned and embarassed by us with ease and style.
I’m so confused how a group of people that get together, point out all of the crazy stuff the orange fatness and his gangsters are doing to destroy our country, and that’s considered an echo chamber? What do you call a bunch of Nazi’s spewing Russian propaganda? Twitter or an echo chamber?
A lot of folks worried that you can actually hear left wing views here without them being suppressed and drowned out. There's a danger that if people can hear them, they might start agreeing. And the corporate media bosses certainly don't want that.
It's hard to antagonize when you're not listening to their deflections. Our job is to make sure our rights and everyone's rights are kept intact. "For the people, Of the People."
I’m a centrist. Anybody interested in facts and reason whether conservative, centrist or liberal should prefer Bluesky over that firehose of extreme rightwing propaganda and conspiracy theories called X.
It’s funny that they call the site where we’ve all been at one another’s throats for the past few years a liberal echo chamber, but it just hit me: They mean the lib/left part is what discredits it. No debate on the left is serious unless it’s about which concessions to make to conservatives
Because they're trying to keep influential people away from Bsky,
including journalists at major papers and TV networks,
corporate presences (and maybe advertisers),
community and issue organizers, and random moderate potential users.
Not just nazis being reinstated, but literal pedophiles. Like, posting CSM on main pedophiles. That Musk personally reinstated and defended. Mainstream media didn't say shit about that.
It is, if you choose it to be. It’s not if that’s how you set your feed. I just wanted a platform where you weren’t faced daily with the question of supporting some SOB who insists on proving it as publicly as possible daily
It's crazy how the entire media ecosystem reacts immediately to the conservatives and weirdos no longer being able to drive the conversation. Really crazy how that is so threatening.
It's almost as if it's a coordinated effort on the part of the media owned and controlled by conservatives and fifth columnists to spread a specific message of propaganda against a website that is becoming major competition for other media/social media sites like X, owned by a new govt official!
The priorities of the media have been very clear in that they belittle progressive causes and downplay the actions of the far-right. Most of our media is owned by the people affiliated with the far-right, dodgy billionaires and so on. And now they yell at Bluesky while being fine at Twitter's bile.
During the last weeks of the election, I believe this site was a mostly unhelpful echo chamber. It was good for moral, but it certainly did not reach those targeted voters. But, we generally don't lie to and scare with racism and misogyny, so we were out wickeded there anyway.
History has shown us you can't trust conducting grass roots political activism via social media. You can use it to bolster the morale of the base, as you point out, but the actual work by activists needs to be done by other methods.
If cons make their BS args about banning trans and abortion, deporting immigrants, tariffs, Trump cab picks, religion in schools etc — without violating rules — they won’t get banned.
They’ll get blocked, ignored and rationally criticized by many — and that’s the real con complaint.
Funny how when you shut the door on Nazis, racists, bigots and toxic bullies suddenly you're an echo chamber. What even happened to ethics over hate, doing right over wrong, decent over disgusting, civility over rage?
I believe most of these narratives (at least its popularity) is not fully organic. They invested a lot in their little right-wing media ecosystem, it makes business sense to try to maintain it too. Which includes attacking the alternatives. Bluesky is winning, and so it's a priority target
Maybe we should take it in turns to be Righty Russian Bots, GOPs Magots & Tater Tots for a day each for balance, and so everyone else gets some target practice in?
I think more people ought to start paying attention to which news sources those articles come from and whether those sources are still worth their patronage.
"But they have solid reporting otherwise..!" doesn't mean anything to me when they also publish pro-fascist opinion pieces.
What gets me is that they won. They have control of the presidency and both sides of congress. And they still can't stop being mad that we have a nazi free place to interact with each other in a virtual space.
It is because all of these other forms of media are competitors of blue sky and blue sky takes off that’s pulling eyeballs off of their ads, and therefore their ad revenue decreases.
It reflects the prevailing ethos that it is the center and the left that must break out of their intellectual and informational cocoons and enrich themselves by exposure to the intellectual abundance of the right.
Well, I grew up immersed in the populist right, and they're generally fucking idiots.
This complaint/whining doesn’t even make sense to me because there are people to the right of me on here, but I am in the UK and they are Lib Dems who abhor discrimination, and just normal right wing people who have opinions about taxes or whatever but who hate Farage
I consider myself centrist and usually quite like what the Lib Dems have to say, but they are irritating me no end with their whining about taxes right now, and judging by the comments left on their posts also quite a lot of people following them. They need to read the room.
I see a handful of things about Trump and/or his gang, but mostly just people posting cool pics of pets, nature, and expressing their joy at being out of the propaganda shithole of Twitter.
The alt right, far right or as I prefer to call them as never right spent billions to build their deranged playground, 44 billion to be precise 😏 now are shitting bricks because they are losing users and losing control of their expensive Echo chamber to Bluesky an upstart 😏

1) the right has successfully "played the refs" into being vastly more critical of progressives/left out of "fairness"
and/or
2) the press just feels more kinship with the right
1) they’re scared
2) we’re doing it right
👉 Right wingers went ballistic when texas colleges offered 'free education'. They say its against the law.

It may be less obvious, but it will be there. 🤷
One of them said he n an interview, if they let women vote their project will be all over within 50 years. 🤷😀

None of them are particularly strong points for the right.
How much more echo chambery than that?
