We are also probably in the minority, cos in our house, we also liked it.
Being part-Chinese, I did very much appreciate that it centred around a Chinese woman.
And I think Chloe Zhao was trying to do something interesting with them, but the typical ⚪️ nerdbros weren’t ready for that.

Apropos of nothing - honest 😉 - I may have watched this evening, still hold ETERNALS has a distinctive voice, is one of the more imaginatively composed films in the MCU, and has held up remarkably well since its release in 2021. Liked it then. Still like it now. 🤷♀️😎

So Eternals surprised me when it switched it up and had Thena (wyt) giving the sidekick pep talk to Sersi (Chinese).
Still really like it though!
Do wonder if it would’ve been better as a TV series instead. Idk.
And if that is the case then I'm all for it
Blade should be Blade, not, Black Knight starring Blade
I’d also recently seen Chloe Zhao’s “Nomadland”, which I also liked.
I think she was trying to tell a more profound story within the constraints of an MCU checklist.
Where it drops I think is where it remembers it has to also be an MCU film. So it sacrifices some interesting bits of story to ✅ cool cgi fight.
But it does ask the question of: would you sacrifice potential future life to save the present?
If you tune out the MCU checklist, it’s a fairly decent film.
She's getting involved in that Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, after all.
I’m interested to see what she’ll do with Buffy.
