Based on the events of the past month and the terrifying possibilities of what’s coming next, ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN sure plays differently now. I find that both upsetting and depressing.

Sending Reggie some love, friends.

Could have populated this with all John Carpenter flicks, but Peter Jason was more than just a go-to character actor essential for the Horror Master. Jason made an impression in every film no matter how small the role. You may not have known his name, but you ALWAYS knew his face. He’ll be missed.

I’d forgotten how stunning the climbing footage is in 1991’s K2 is. The plot may be a stogy melodramatic slog, but the action photography is something else. Would love a 4K release of this at some point. Definitely. youtu.be/grv3d55FOkk?...

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes. You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment. My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc. www.reddit.com/r/Passports/...

Having not seen the trailer or read the plot description, just realized I’m watching window cleaner DIE HARD directed by one of the James Bond series’s most notable filmmakers and starring an actual Jedi. Fingers crossed it lives up to that buildup (and I’m legit excited to find out).

Trump's lawyers are absolutely flailing in the courts right now

When the Auschwitz Memorial calls you out….

it seems likely that trans works are gonna be heavily-suppressed over the next four years and this is one of the few sites that isn't yet playing along so: if you want to keep abreast of what trans authors are up to, follow these fine folks go.bsky.app/VaypaqC

Frustrating watching a well-acted, honest, and heartfelt melodrama about soldiers dealing with PTSD and suicidal ideation realizing all of the government safety nets (which are admittedly inadequate) built to aid them are currently being destroyed by unelected white supremacist morons. That’s fun.🤦‍♀️😡

While at the UW, wrote a short story (it probably wasn’t good and I was terrified to share it 🤷‍♀️) about a teen coming out as trans to their grandparents, Tess McGill and Jack Trainer. Not sure why I chose those characters. They just seemed cool enough to be accepting. Anyhow, WORKING GIRL rules.

Do what you can humans And please, spread the word and share …

Oscilloscope aren’t on Bluesky so I’m dropping this here as they’re still the boldest company in the biz. Go support them. store.oscilloscope.net

Reminder that when Adam Sandler is great, he’s really, really, REALLY great. Just wish he was that great more often. Anyhow, that was great. LOVED. So well done. #SNL50

I know Sony thought they had a potential Oscar contender with SATURDAY NIGHT (whoops!), but they really should have saved its theatrical release until February of this year. 🤷‍♀️

What is the coolest shot in movies? #filmsky

Still can’t believe this happened. Being listed alongside such incredible company, all of whom I think are extraordinary writers, educators, columnists, critics, and historians. I don’t have words. Having this arrive just made my weekend. I’m speechless.

Resharing this as it’s now Valentine’s Day. I’m not exactly the most romantic person in the world, especially on Valentine’s Day, but still was was tasked by the Seattle Gay News to craft a list of films I’d watch to “celebrate” the holiday. It’s an eclectic mix… 🤷‍♀️😎 😂 www.sgn.org/story.php?ch...

Apropos of nothing - honest 😉 - I may have watched this evening, still hold ETERNALS has a distinctive voice, is one of the more imaginatively composed films in the MCU, and has held up remarkably well since its release in 2021. Liked it then. Still like it now. 🤷‍♀️😎 moviefreak.com/eternals-202...

Today is a good day to buy our book on SLEEPAWAY CAMP.

A few random new arrivals plus a couple of birthday presents to myself, all of which happened to arrive on my birthday. That’s what I call timing. 😎

Sony’s 4K disc of George Stevens’ THE TALK OF THE TOWN is stunning. Wow. The movie? Still amazing. Also still way ahead of its time. But where it played aspirationally in ‘42, now it’s just frustrating and even a little sad. 83 years on, we’ve learned precious little. Worse, we’re going backward.

It’s kinda strange watching a movie that exudes kindness, is pro-immigration, celebrates the glories of found family, cheers selflessness, and is about loving one’s neighbor no matter who they are or where they come from and have the entire audience LOVE it. Anyhow, saw PADDINGTON IN PERU today. ❤️

Pretty much loved #HeartEyes start to finish. It’s the delightfully vulgar (and gory!) yet still endearingly romantic romcom slasher I never knew I desperately needed and now can’t imagine ever being without. Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding are outstanding. moviefreak.com/heart-eyes-2...

Best thing I can say about #LoveHurts is that it’s mercifully short (83 minutes). Next best is that the fight sequences are indeed fantastic. Other than that? Ugh. Sigh. Another ugh coupled with an additional sigh. I think that sums it up. moviefreak.com/love-hurts-2...

How I know 2025 hasn’t gotten me fully to emotionally checkout? Got visibly angry at my first film screening this year, mainly for consistently and egregiously wasting virtually every ounce of its clearly obvious potential. 😡 Yay, I guess? 🤷‍♀️ Anyhow, more on Friday. Apologies for being vague.

Okay. Now I need Mikey to do a follow-up video so we can hear her thoughts on the two films she snatched she's never seen before. The curiosity is killing me! Seriously, though, pretty great picks. She should be very happy with her selections. youtu.be/9AUc5BfebCM

Snap out of it, America. The warning lights are flashing red. My latest. www.thedailybeast.com/yes-its-a-co...

Just spent 20 lovely minutes with Josh Ruben chatting about his latest gem HEART EYES, a sublime romcom-horror hybrid slashing into theaters on 2/7. Can’t wait to share. 😎 And, yes, we did talk about how it’s the most blatant not-shot-in-Seattle-but-set-in-Seattle movie probably ever. 😂 Good times.

I'd like to say I'm functioning semi-normally: writing, working, watching screeners, getting caught up on pieces I'm late/behind on - that sort of thing. Instead I'm sitting here watching HERBIE movies and trying not to emotionally spiral. Same thing, right? Right?? Ugh. It's not the same thing. ☹️
