It's said you're not a true Hoseman until you've been killed by CMDR Flux Blair (not here yet) π
But weekend mornings in #EliteDangerous with my friends are the best fun
Easily one of the most involved and rewarding game experiences of my life, in spite of - and because of - how ruthlessly uncaring it was to beginners!
I was like halfway to Colonia when that happened :D
Otherwise: First mass jump. Reaching Beagle Point the first time. Climbing up Farseer Tower in the SRV. Flying to the UK to meet everyone at ECM.
Tons of fun. Completely new to it so I was astonished that my ship had disappeared after I had driven a good 5-6km out & drove back. Quickly found out about the recall button, & I watched my gorgeous Python come in and land on its own.
Finally seeing the Generation Ships too!
One specific highlight was the accidental emergent gameplay when guardian site rewards were granted to adjacent players due to a bug. 1/2

At the end, you drop into a orbis station, and seeing it just appear out of seemingly nothing, and that voice over the comms.
"DeLacy, November-India-Charlie. Welcome to this independent starport"
Still love it all this time later :D
Having David Braben retweet one of my tweets about Elite's ruby anniversary.
But also...
During the Odyssey beta, I made the silly Twitter account @PeterTheSleeper that got some notice, A Galnet News Digest mention, & a *follow* from Lord Braben! π€―
Every. Single. One. (Not just the ones where we kill Buur)
@cmdrrheeney.bsky.social and @cmdrbuur.bsky.social are delightful people, and have built a community full of magnificent lunatics. Non-stop silliness and fun!
First time seeing a Thargoid, knowing what that meant from the original game. My blood turned to ice water.
First hyperdiction (different event). TERRIFYING!
Canyon racing at Farseer's base in an Eagle - my first big player event.
(We also fought some pirates along the way.)
Fantastic people, fantastic journey, fantastic experiences.

I have mined asteroids, explored unknown worlds, discovered new species, fought vicious pirates, fought
It may be a clichΓ©, but absolutely the best thing is the people I've met along the way, including...
Sometimes it seems like a second job, sometimes we just sit in our spaceships and chat, but the truth is that #EliteDangerous offers a gaming experience like no other, it's wholly unique and absolutely special.
Many fond memories; delighting in all of Michael Brook's mysteries. And DW2!
Thankyou!
