what are some good RPGs for n64 that you recommend outside the obvious paper mario/quest 64/ogre battle? id love to play some, ive been playing a lot of n64 stuff lately but only really know the obvious games
Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Custom Robo, Custom Robo V2, Dokopon, Zool, Hybrid Heaven, Legend of the River King 64, Legend of the River King 64 2, ISS 2000, many Power Pros, Doraemon 2, Ultraman are a few more.
Super Nintendo's RPGs are the bes'. That's why sometimes they got ported to the PS1 with some FMVs taped to them... they knew the games were already perfect.
Part of it was limitations of course: The more well known one was how Square wanted FF7 on the N64 but hardware limitations and the fact it would have needed like 13 or 14 cartridges to hold all the data made it unviable.
The N64 is frustrating to me; on one hand, I'm happy with what they managed to accomplish, and on the other, I know that it could have been so much more. They were so close, lol.
When they made the PS1 dualshock controller, with the rotary controls, it changed gaming forever. Even Nintendo couldn't deny its greatness and copied it for the gamecube

So I imagine when the internet is gone so people will miss silly retro gaming takes
So, I made this meme lol
Super Robot Wars
Nushi Tsuri 1&2
Hybrid Heaven
All bangers
Sure
Let's go with that
No one wants that.
Sing about Quest 64 and Aidyn Chronicles, the 2 RPGs
The two games change every time someone makes a list
Also the tutorial is a billion hours long and I'm still not good at it.
Maybe that's why I like Quest so much: immediately dropped into the game and kicked out into the wilderness
Quest 64
Aiyuden Chronicles
Gauntlet Legends
Mega Man 64
Ogre Battle 64
Paper Mario
Not sure why they decided to make it a Zaxxon clone.
Ogre Battle 64, Resident Evil 2 etc showed the possibilities, but it's also fine for different systems to be good at different things
I firmly believe that if the N64 had better 3rd-party support and a disk drive right out the gate, they would've destroyed Sony.
But Sony was too afraid to do analog at all until it was successful for Nintendo on the N64 🙂
This is just my opinion, but I feel somebody would have made a DualShock equivalent if Sony hadn't. 3D games just couldn't work without it.
Are
The
Dumbest
They're just right
It might not be 9,000 vs 2 but it's still wayyyy more
Here we go
I own a couple copies lol
I absolutely fucking love it, it's my favorite Christmas game. I try to play it every year in December
How did that get in there
