4e is unironically my favorite WotC D&D. Everyone had something meaningful and interesting to do, powers worked together to form interesting synergies, and the DM tools were actually good.
The biggest complaints were how the information was presented, and then lazily regurgitated talking points
If I had to pick one game book to give to someone on how to be a good TTRPG DM, it would be Apocalypse World.
If I got to choose a second it would be D&D 4e.
(Actually, this could be a series with a bunch of quote posts)
This is always the one where people can’t help themselves. No idea why. There’s some weird obsession with hating a game that’s been out of print for over a decade. It’s truly so weird to me.
who gettin worked up? you the one bitchin on the internet in a public forum and not expectin responses. go throw that pussy tantrum somewhere else with that neckbeard Nedly ass glasses you got goin on.
Hahaha. I’m not complaining or throwing a tantrum. I’m eating pancakes. The glasses insult is a classic, by the way. Hahahaha. Oh man. Thanks. I needed a good laugh.
Listen, I don't usually bother to reply to people like this, and maybe I should just mute and move on, m but 4e is actually beloved in much of the indie scene.
Everybody's tastes are different, and hating on things "just because" is silly.
Game designed with laser focus and mechanics that match the tone. Now why would people who put the game above the badge on the cover like it more than others? 🤔🤔🤔

granted the first two are mostly "Fuck You Randy Pitchford" but still.
and yes, JUST civ 6's multiplayer. the modders did God's Work fixing things.
It’s a preference you have. Which is fair, you can have that preference. But it’s objectively not a bad game.
Getting worked up over a game is so funny and cringe.
