One of every $5 going to healthcare is redirected to insurance company profits. Let's remove the middle-man, and go to Universal Healthcare, as other developed countries have done. Still want to pay for insurance? You can always purchase more insurance, if you want it.
In Canada it’s radical not to! Though there is serious pressure from big med corps to change our system here. My hope is it will be the hill Canadians die on….we are a pretty feisty bunch.
On that I agree.
We formed Societies for the benefit of all the members of Society not, I repeat not for the benefit of the few.
The few are Parasites and Leeches of Society.
For 1 to prosper a hundred have 2B impoverished.
The few suck everything from Society and in reality give nothing back
It sucks that we pay farmers NOT to grow things so prices can stay at a certain level. The reason behind this is greed. They want to keep farmers in business, but pay them so little for their products they can't afford to do so without help.
It's NOT radical to us, it's radical to our politicians! Most of them (on both sides) own stock in health insurance companies & take money from their lobbyists. If we had universal healthcare, they'd all lose money.
I really needed that company announcement about a pay raise next year, then HR told me that increased premium deductions will appear in the next paycheck. One step forward, two steps back. Fuqq insurance companies. ALL of them.
....yet , USAs RIGHT WINGERS - forever B!OCK socialized medicine??? In EUROPE, even their SKINHEADS / PRO-PUTIN /WHITE RACISTS / MAGA- TYPEs---- they love their UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE
Incidentally and perhaps ironically, the web sites for Federal Employee Plans offered by UnitedHealthCare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and perhaps (or presumably others) to Postal Workers and other federal employees, use not the "Open Enrollment" the rest of us are used to, but "Open Season." 🙄
Doctor here. Billing specialists to make sure I comply with billing requirements, insurance has billing specialists to try to deny those payments, lawyers to drive policy to reduce risk but increase stupidity, prior authorizations needed to try to prevent you from getting a test. It’s a mess.
Unfortunately single payer wouldn’t increase efficiency or the use or prior authorization, it was just bring a single source of frustration and once source of payment. And honestly, the government would probably still use private insurers to offload the work like they do now.
I do med PAs. My state's MediCaid rx benefits used to be farmed out to several private companies with different formularies, forms etc. Pain in the to keep track. Then they switched to one centralized pharmacy benefit program. Way easier to keep track of formulary/PA criteria. 1/2
2/2 point being, yes there will always be inefficiencies in any system, but with single payor you can learn one system and how to fight it vs. Dozens of systems.
Here’s a radical new idea. Nationalise it & have a universal healthcare system paid through taxes. You could even call it the National Health System - or NHS!
Sister of two physicians and and sister of a paramedic/Emt: My bros left working in hospitals for bigger bucks because they saw too many patients with no medical coverage get minimal treatment called "Treat 'Em & Street 'Em" that they opened up their own practice to treat these patients. (1/2)
My paramedic brother told me a true story: he responded to a patient suffering symptoms of Covid with no medical coverage & was told to reroute their ambulance to a different hospital.
Patients died on route.
When doctors act like business men, where can people go for doctors?
My daughter has 22 years of experience in customer service. She earns $16/hour. The cheapest ACA plan in our area is $400/month with a $10K deductible.
She goes to the ER if she gets really sick. Forget the surgeries she needs -- there's no way in hell she can afford them.
Our premium is only $60 less than our mortgage as of January. $7500 deductible and literally pays for nothing. We pay 100% out of pocket until that deductible. We’ve been stuck with this for three years. They’ve never paid a cent out while we pay them huge premiums.
I firmly believe that the insurance companies control our lives . Years ago there was no insurance, you paid the dr , hospital and that was that. Rates and fees were so much lower and everyone was happy.
Maybe it’s time to start over.
In 2024 everybody should have the same level of healthcare, eduction & affordable housing. That doesn’t stop billionaires having 20 super cars in their 20 mansions or anything else they want.
Some billionaires are sadistic cunts and want to witness suffering, to make themselves feel empowered.
ALL billionaires are sadistic cunts. They could solve problems like homelessness, food insecurity, and inadequate access to medical care for literally everyone in the world and have PLENTY of $ left over. But having it in the bank is better than using it to save lives I guess.
God, how many innocent lives have been taken by greedy CEO'S? Have you seen them in Hell?
Most Americans committed suicide, thousands are homeless, veterans, & parents living in the streets, cars, & highway shelter. Bills are piling up. Folks working 2-3 jobs just to get by.
Preach it, God! If wanting universal healthcare is radical, sign me up for this faith. Now, how do we get everyone baptized in the holy waters of common sense and compassion?
NOT Medicare. Networks, deductibles, copays... It doesn't cover dental, vision, or hearing unless you have certain Advantage plans. Mine pays $175 for an eye exam and single vision glasses. I paid $600 OOP for my last pair (progressive lenses with several necessary coatings).
To them everyone does have free healthcare, it's called praying. Except no study ever has shown it to be any more effective than a placebo. But it's free!
What the pipl want and need, it not what the oligarchy want. So, it is not to be, until blue Maga sees the light and becomes the party of FDR or a third party is formed for the pipl.
It is radical. If we don't embrace it radically it won't last. We will just get more ACA nonsense that will be stopped in many areas of the country. We a universal Healthcare system full stop.
God forbid we get our moneys worth! I do not approve of murder but I am glad Robin Hoodie brought to light how angry people are with their loved ones being sacrificied for a bottom line.
#Greed #Hubris #Capitalism isn't #sustainable We #elected a #felon. #Maga are #sinners fake Christians, fake citizens, #traitors, "stupid does as stupid is "Forrest Gump
I have no desire for "everyone" to suffer from the same sucky healthcare coverage I have.
Won't pay for dental implants so I can wear my dentures.
Pays $175 for eye exam and glasses; I pay the other $500+.
Knee surgery is $400 if OP; PT is $35/visit for 21 visits = $735 plus gas.
I could go on.
So shameful for what is touted as a "progressive World Leading Nation" that MANY Millions of Americans are at the mercy of greedy Corporate Giants when it comes to their Healthcare. So MANY other Nations have National Healthcare Systems FAR superior for the benefit of ALL of their Citizens.
Seriously - This I can never understand about the US. It’s fantastic having a National Health Service. You don’t have to sell your house to have cancer treatment or an operation. Why do you want to be ripped off by insurance firms?
They want only those with money and power having access to healthcare. Even the poor ones think if they kill enough of us off, their lot will magically improve. They have no idea the wealthy will just hoard more money.
After, "Your body, my choice," and the public threats by Public Enemy Nick Fuentes, I was thinking, air raids, maybe...home invasions, erm...widespread power grid failure, I mean, I'm curious.
Universal basic income. Public Healthcare. Clean water. Serviceable roads. Electricity. Internet. I believe these are human rights and we are wealthy enough as a nation to provide them to literally everyone. And if we're not, something is broken and should be fixed.
Absolutely. We shouldn't have a "homeless problem" or parents going without food so their kids can eat. There are enough houses in this country for everyone to have shelter. We have federally subsidized fields sitting empty to maintain a certain price point for food.
We're about to find out what the rich want more- single payer healthcare or common sense firearm regulations.
(I mean, both would be nice, but this is the US we're talking about.)
Retired person here, limited income. Need teeth. Got estimate for extracting 14 upper teeth for dentures...$6200 just for the oral surgery, plus whatever else is needed. We can't afford. Guess teeth aren't necessary for health. Always thought Brits had bad teef...we're joining your club.
I lost my teeth due to a bad medication reaction. I need 8 implants to hold my dentures in place due to shallow gums and a small jaw. Medicare says implants are cosmetic. I don't have $20K to pay for them. The bone under my gums has now receded. My dentures sit on the bathroom counter in a jar.
Thanks for telling me about this. I either know people who’ve had dentures for years, others in my same boat, or people in your boat with no teeth. I’ve had plenty of toothless cats and they do okey even with dry food.
I get it. My hubs and I both went for consultations and ended up with a “plan” that would cost us $45000 by the end. We can’t afford that. Teeth are necessary for health.
I cut my food up small because I can't bite or chew. I can't eat nuts unless they're finely chopped. Firm fresh fruit and veggies are out of the question. It ends up being a form of malnutrition. Health issues resulting from having no teeth will cost far more than $20K for implants.
Do you have your bottom teeth? I feel like I’d do better, like cat, if I had no teeth because…bite? Teeth on bottom and none on top really don’t work at all. I’m checking with IU School of Dentistry see if I can get appointment. We don’t live too far.
I have no teeth. Between calcium depletion due to having 3 kids in 4 years and a nasty drug reaction, they rotted from the gums up and I had to have them all extracted in 2013 and 2014.
If you can't get dentures to stay in place, your gums will recede more quickly. I have very little left.
What a waste of $$$. Billions! Social security works great, so why not institute universal health care? You would have to pay into it like SS, but insurance premiums would disappear. Insurance companies are out to make huge profits. And they do.
People cry about “government interfering in healthcare “ but fail to understand that for-profit companies are worse. We need universal healthcare. For all. Period. Full stop.
I may die today & it will be because I don’t have health coverage to pay for an ER/urgent care visit. Covid? Influenza? No idea, but just know God I’ve always enjoyed your wicked dark sense of humor with humanity 🥴😷😂😷🥴
It’s your job to keep people healthy. No wonder, folks needed insurance when their prayers to you failed. You need to accept that you do suck at your job sometimes.
Lmao Trump cucks voted for a man who will absolutely take away their access to medicaid and other social services and dont even realize it. Those idiots live voting against their own interests without even knowing.
God, it is if you're an oligarch they know eventually they will be required to pay taxes for the privilege of living the US where unbridled greed is worshipped.
It’s inhumane to only allow those with jobs that provide healthcare and those with money access to healthcare. Yes I know that hospitals must treat everyone but they don’t offer anything other than minimum get them out the door care.
It's actually more radical to have a predatory, for profit healthcare system that results in death, suffering and is the #1 reason for bankruptcy.
Especially for the planets richest nation, it just doesn't make sense. Capitalism baby.

I’m “not a serious person”
Are they worried

derail their efforts
to lose elections?
I’m glad to see that the movement is all above water now :)

“No, it’s the bill”
Universal Healthcare.
Trump will replace ObamaCare with PlaceboCare.
— Even if it's just mentally.

Oops! Bit of a problem there.😎
Only a slice of progressives are OK with reactions like yours. The broad public is appalled. Your virtuous intentions don't matter.
Why are we so against it?

Cheeto nazi mtfkr and his simps. ..
Has he said anything at all in his defense of senselessly killing thousands of people, or is he already on the ferry to Hell?
You know what, God. I did ask what it would take for those of us still disinterested in radical change to *GET INTERESTED.*
You know what this feels like to me, God? This feels like war. I am terrified to learn who is next.
Sincerely,
Your Forever Servant in Love, Light, and Peace.
And if they were not radicalized before, they sure as hell are now.
But greed......
Because just like that all the Republican CEO's no longer think open carry in places of business is such a good idea.
Thou shalt punch not sees in the face.
Would anyone like to add to this?
(I mean, both would be nice, but this is the US we're talking about.)
My 10 year old male needs some of his teeth removed. I'll have to put it on my credit card. I don't have $700 right now.
I have life insurance. If I kick off before the bill is fully paid, my daughter can pay it.
If you can't get dentures to stay in place, your gums will recede more quickly. I have very little left.
We can only take so much despair.
Politics?
Proud to be radical blue, always blue.
Shirker.
Start calling it 'Single Payer Healthcare' with the acronym SPH.
I WAS calling it 'Universal Health Care' with the unfortunate acronym UHC
( UHC = United Health Care )
I just know he will be well received.
