Maybe it is a bit pedantic to insist "decimate" is only used when you mean "decrease by one tenth", but it seems absurd to use it to mean "increase by 6,000%".

Itβs better to build houses to accommodate young people so they have a better chance to live in their own home than save biologically deserted fields.
π€ it's better to allow "biologically deserted fields" to recover their bio-diversity, for ALL our continued existence, than build for the sake of it, that isn't even FOR "young people" but reeves' vanity UK "silicon valley" project. π€¦ββοΈ
And if their subs are really conscientious and keen to please everyone, they would be advised to consider "an historic connection". Or should it be historical? Decisions...
It won't though - the new settlement is planned well to the south of the existing village. They will barely know its there apart from the value of their houses going up
Yeah because the historic village centres were totally bulldozed when places like Stevenage and Milton Keynes (Newport Pagnell) were built. Nope the old towns are still there much as they looked a 100 years ago! Character in tact and everything.
I saw one this week about a development in the Sussex town where my mum lives right next to a well-served train station and it was as if an LLM had been asked to write it
Surely theyβll go for everyoneβs favourite grammar school solution of not building a new one but building an annexe of an existing one in a wholly new place?
Particularly when they will be literally bulldozing or obliterating or destroying or smashing or (etc, etc, etc) many buildings and amenities in the village to achieve their goal
Also, appreciate its not quite the same as a true rural idyll, but lots of parts of London still retain a villagey feel even as the city grew around them

So the key question: is it going to have a grammar school?
