big agree specifically with this take - it's not the flavor (alone) for me, it's the temperature. anything with that high of a water content is not good on a bread item
I think if you slice them very thin (instead of fat chunks straight from the can) and combine with savory veg like onion and pepper, maybe sausage, the sweetness blends well with the other flavors.
came here to say that--a lot of food becomes much more interesting once you realize that both botanically and culinarily, tomato is a not-very-sweet fruit.
One of the best meat dished I ever had was a beef brisket slow-cooked with apricots. Just amazing what the sweetness brought out. +>
Which is not to say *everyone* has to like it! I personally like "Hawaiian" pizza (which was actually invented in Canada), but I want to force it on people any more than I want people to force their four-cheeze extravaganza on me!
