It isn't that long ago that prices were raised. Used to be once a year in April. Posting abroad is £2.80 for a 100g letter, whether you are sending across the Channel or across the world. Doubtless that will rise as well.

I tried sending a part back to Mercedes back when i owned one, for a mail-in rebate - Royal Mail lost my second class parcel.

I lost £50 - Royal Mail offered me to fill in some paper for a 10 to £20 potential refund.

I have never used Royal Mail since.

The plan is likely to make it expensive so everyone moves to electronic communications, at least for non-packages. Denmark will effectively abolish the regular postal service; stamp prices are now higher. A lot of 'privatised' ex-state services get special bailouts. Neoliberals don't like this.

It’s the standard pattern with privatisation: corporate profiteering by reduced service.
Any time now the Royal Mail could announce the end of letter deliveries, as now in Denmark.
Those of us who handwrite letters will be willing to pay the price to keep the service.

They honestly don’t want one to send letters anymore. Here in Italy they are sealing up the post boxes, Denmark is rumoured to be stopping postal letter deliveries altogether.
