The USA may be by far the biggest bully in the geopolitical playground, but they aren't omnipotent. If sufficient countries set aside narrow self-interest to stand together, strength of numbers can outweigh American might. Just a few of the possible candidates: UK, EU countries, Canada, Mexico.

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.

Unapologetically. ✊🇪🇺

I’m George Takei and I approve of this message.

Pretty disturbed by some of the Kremlin framing on the Trump talks being bought by parts of the media worldwide. It’s as if the genesis of the war is entirely forgotten. This isn’t a conflict which needs mediation. It was an unprovoked act of aggression. It could end tomorrow if Putin just withdrew.

Ok that made me laugh

"This was not peace talks nor a negotiation, but a business meeting," risk analyst @samdebendern.bsky.social says. "A business meeting between the representatives of two bosses, who want to decide how best to share the spoils of war. That is really what we're seeing here." ~AA

1. A few years ago, people like me were widely attacked in the media for “declinism”. How could we fail to see that we were heading into a capitalist utopia, in which everything would keep getting better? This is a thread about what we could see that our critics could not. 🧵

I'm neither a citizen of the UK nor the EU, but I've lived and been educated in both. Though I'm an expat American who's called Asia home for many years, I wholeheartedly support Dr. Galsworthy, chair of @europeanmovement.co.uk, in the bid for a stronger, more united Europe. Time is of the essence

As the US sits around the table with Lavrov (sanctioned by the Biden) the Russian attacks on civilians in Kyiv haven’t stopped. The Trump administration didn’t even get a cessation in drone attacks in exchange for the PR coup of talks and bringing the regime in from the cold.

Just watched both ITV and BBC news headlines to compare and how they reported Trump’s outrageous blaming of Ukraine for Russian invasion of Ukrainian sovereign territory. What a difference - BBC as usual on the fence whereas Paul Brand on ITV actually actually sounded as incredulous as we all feel.

The most unpatriotic members of any society are the far right. They will always align with foreign interests against the interests of their own nations. They will always undermine national institutions and national values in pursuit of their own interests. When they pose as patriots, they lie.

All together now: hahahahahahahahaha

"It is well-known that most of the mainstream media do not approach a Labour Government in a neutral way. Some blatantly misrepresent what is happening, but more often they simply do not report activity, leaving people with a sense that the government is doing nothing."

I absolutely agree 💯💯 🎯

What should we do to restore and reinforce democracy? www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/02... Democracy is in peril, not least in the UK. What should we do to restore it?

As I said earlier!

I’ve donated - can you please? We need to fight this infiltration of Britain by Nazi Musk together

Can we stop calling the Labour Party progressive now? It looks like they’re about to restart private finance initiative projects which the Tories stopped in 2018 because they are terrible for public finances. Read that again - the Tories stopped this, and it looks like Starmer will restart them 🚨

Privatisation of the NHS US private equity and UK pension fund USS make bid for NHS landlord Assura. Assura was set up in 2003, owns more than 600 healthcare buildings worth £3bn. NHS burdened with rent. This is in addition to PFI payments. Less spent on front line services. archive.ph/QRaGZ

Is Rachel Reeves on her way out? youtu.be/NAfcBpbWxTA?... Rachel Reeves suffers with the nickname ‘Rachel from Accounts’. Only it looks like her own accounting has not been that good, and nor is her CV all she claims it to be. But is the real story that her colleagues want her out?

US Vice President J D Vance attacked Europe yesterday. His charge was, in essence, that we are not as fascist as he would like. The political battle lines have been drawn. We have to now stand up and fight against the tyranny he and Trump are unleashing. www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/02...

I know everything feels grim right now but let's be realistic. These people are idiots. They're going to tank their economy. They're going to fuck-up every deal they sign. They're going to leave America looking shattered and deranged. And all those who supported them will look as idiotic as they are

Criticism of Labour from @alastaircampbell2.bsky.social very unusual. But this needs saying. Labour should stop being so defensive about spelling out the facts, the scale of the disaster that the Brexit deal inflicted on us…’ www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

Mick Lynch "Nigel Farage is a racist." RT if Mick is right.

Good morning to this man, and this man only #bbcqt

It should be crystal clear by now that Trump cannot be trusted... with anything. Starmer should stop trying to be all things to all people - which only achieves being nothing to anyone. Instead, he should rush to bring us closer to the EU, the only trade and defence partners we can still rely on.

Thames Water is collapsing. NO BAILOUTS for the shareholders and banks who caused this mess. Tell the government to take it into public ownership PERMANENTLY and protect the public interest. #WeOwnIt weownit.org.uk/act-now/brin...
