This actually makes sense to me. Kind of like grapes in a waldorf salad/chicken salad. Or like raisins in a tuna (not my preference, just seen it done). Also you get the crunch from the apple
I eat it with Mac n cheese and cream of mushroom soup all mixed together 👀 idk if this is another weird one both sides of my family had similar recipes and combined it to make this
okay but this one doesn’t sound bad?? think about other *insert protein* salads that we make. take chicken salad: people put cranberries and shit in that? i feel like apples in a tuna fish salad sandwich doesn’t sound like a bad combo ??
A also put (all finely chopped) celery, shaved carrot, pickles, pecans, fresh grated parmesan, and boiled (actually steamed) egg. I mix mostly mayo, with a shot of grey poupon, and sometimes some ranch dressing in the sauce before mixing it all together. It's addictive. Particularly the next day.
You don't mix in a LOT of mustard. And it's not just ANY mustard. I use sweet pickles but some people tell me they use dill. I also only use albacore tuna. A bit more expensive but a lot better than the so-called "chunk light tuna".
LOL! I used to say the same thing about mustard, and tomatoes. But a little bit of mustard (particularly spicy brown mustard) is just the thing some sauces need to make them sing.
