It has to do with the “I want to wheel and deal, and piece together a team from what I can work out with my own wits”. It’s basically like fantasy sports, but with so many extra variables (simulated finances, simulated coaching, the ability to play entire seasons in a day, etc)

I understand it's like fantasy sports where you don't have to actually play the sport. I'm just... confused as to why you need it in a video game, a medium that lets you do fantasy stuff in interactive ways.

For me (I used to play OotP Baseball, but I had to stop because it was too addictive and would cause problems in my work and life), it was the ability to like “ok, let’s go back to 2012, fake a division realignment and add a few teams, sin a few years, then join one of the new teams”…

Some of us on the spectrum enjoy spreadsheets and sports so combining the two is quite pleasurable. Again, understand it’s not for everyone much but we exist out there and we are insufferable irl.
