oh how awful. i see so many suggested use-cases like this and the justification is always "i don't know what to say" and i can't overstate, especially as someone who's lost my mom, how no gaffe would be worse than knowing somebody didn't even try and just outsourced their empathy.

Well said. I can’t understand having appreciation for someone and not wanting to express it myself. Or, honestly, any writing task that means anything to me.

I sadly fell under the lure of AI “art” for a while, which I bitterly repented of in the end. I’m not about to lose language to that shit.

Every year we progress forward the more correct Her (2013) was with its predictions about the near future. Up to and including the fact rich people would outsource writing thank-you notes/pleasantries to a third party who doesn't know them.
