"alienation" in a labor context is realer than ever, but that doesn't mean we have to return to 19th century understanding of "labor" for our work to be meaningful. hell, you didn't then, either; writing is Real Work (tm), for instance.
It's not impossible to do meaningful work in a corporate context! Also you can be doing blue collar drudgery & creative hack work too.
I guess, context is everything.
I don't need my job to contribute or do anything or be fulfilling.
