Top Shelf Friday time!
What's a comic in your collection that you think deserves to be on that top shelf?
Whether its a key, rare, or just one you love❤️
This week, a modern classic key, New Mutants #98 (1990)

I'd love to get the whole series at some point
My selection, for this week, is “Laugh Comics” #36, published in Dec. 1949. #TeamBetty
but so happy to get one.
Piratas do Tietê, y2, n10, 1991 - Back cover.
The text translates to "TAKE THE LAW INTO YOUR OWN HANDS". A freaking masterpiece by @laertecoutinho.bsky.social
For #TopShelfFriday I’m going with Marvel Graphic Novel #12 (1984) Dazzler The Movie, with a ridiculously beautiful 80’s Bill Sienkiewicz cover.
Don’t know why this doesn’t get posted more often, tipping the scales here!
I've always thought this cover was so cool
It must be at least a latent power to not get his hair caught on anything, like Jinx in Arcane
(released January 27, 1981; cover art by Marie Severin)

While most are best left forgotten, there are rare exceptions to this generalization.
Amazing Heroes 1990 Swimsuit Special definitely falls in that latter category. This 128-page beach behemoth features a bevy of talent (ALT text has more details).
If I could turn back time...
I found TWO in my remaining collection.
I don't even remember why.

What she didn't manage to sell ended up being 5 long boxes of comics when me and my brothers finally boxed them up years later. So I kinda get her motivation. 😆
Going with my copy of 251 this week, cause I feel like I haven’t posted it in a hot minute.
Love to all✌️
But he canceled his appearance on the day it was supposed to happen.
I’m still glad I have the issue.
While her first appearance as CB was a single panel in the previous issue, this is the first cover appearance of Betsy Braddock as Captain Britain.
It’s also famous for being the issue where Slaymaster brutally blinded her. 😩
Open the comic up though and she is already laid out on the first page. The story jumps back and we see Slaymaster completely outclassed her. She wasn’t ready.
You’ve been warned.
There’s a much more immediate resolution within the same issue though, as Brian showed up quite suddenly due to a painful spike from his twin sister psychic power when she was mutilated.
Let’s just say, Slaymaster was not at all ready for him despite his cockiness at first.
But pretty important to her history as the series ends with the next issue and Betsy then shows up later that year in New Mutants Annual #2 where she takes the name Psylocke for the first time.
