The workers were about to strike and then Costco got good press for DEI and got slammed with customers. Now they are passing some profits to workers!! That’s what should ALWAYS happen.
This isn’t accurate.
The top paid employees got a $1 raise, so the hourly workers who are paid the most get $30.20/hr while the lowest paid workers get $20/hr after a fifty cent raise.
Not everyone is getting paid $30/hr and it’s disingenuous to say so.
Right? I mean "think of it" (as Trumplestiltskin would say) - many states still have a minimum wage of $7.25 - and in fact the federal minimum wage is still $7.25.
Today I read a criticism of Costco as a union busting company. Seems to me that at $30/hr, their employees probably dont need a union. Unless there are other things at play?
Dang...when I worked there..a couple decades ago....I only got 10.50 an hour...oh and they never give more than 30 hours a week.....they also cared more about you selling memberships than helping the customers....maybe things have changed since then...
About $20 less than I make as a lawyer (if I got paid hourly) and didn’t have to go $175k into debt to do it! Working for Costco seems like a good life choice.
Woot Woot !! 🙌🏾 Once again, I have another nomination for “post of the night “ !! Bravo, I salute you sir ( Informative/ we know how to thrive AND spread the wealth category)
This isn’t rocket science people. Tax the rich and corporations at the same rate as the rest of us, eliminate the payroll tax cap, eliminate deductions. Bingo, government funded, medicaid/medicare/SS fully funded. DOGE can get F’ed and we the people have a happy life.
Congratulations all hourly workers are now salary workers; until we figure out how to legally sell your employment contract to a third party before pay increase takes effect.
Still not shopping at US stores . Even Costco is seeing a slowdown in Canada . All Canadian food chains are already reporting increased profits . Buy Canadian 🇨🇦 support your country!! Elbows up ! -sorry ;)
Yeah, but you can't pay workers that much money and still have a successful, profitable business…
… oh wait, in the last five years Costco stock has done virtually twice as well as the S&P 500:
It’s time I got a Costco membership! You better pay attention Amazon, if I can find it somewhere else at the same price, or close price, I’m buying elsewhere! Your support of Trump/Musk destroying this country is the reason!
When I go to Costco and ask the workers about what it's like, they say " everyday is like a Friday!" They are so busy. I was at the membership line to renew my membership and someone asked about the line she was in. I said this is the membership line. She said she's a BJ's customer now at Costco.
I get all the love for Costco sticking with DEI and raising wages but maybe they could get rid of their membership fees. I don’t shop at places where I have to pay to….shop at places.
"Representing more than 18,000 Costco workers, the union says 85% of its members voted to authorize the strike. Teamsters spokesperson Matthew McQuaid said the pay increase announced by Costco came to be due to the pressure being put on by the union."
You're welcome. As much as I would love for Costco to be that great to their workers (and they are good to their workers - at least here in Canada), I think it's dangerous to not have the full story. To believe one picture/statement without investigating the veracity of it is gullible.
"Representing more than 18,000 Costco workers, the union says 85% of its members voted to authorize the strike. Teamsters spokesperson Matthew McQuaid said the pay increase announced by Costco came to be due to the pressure being put on by the union."

And they passed the pay raise to members. It's going up to $65 per member. Think about the grift. We pay them for the privilege of spending our money in their stores. And quite often, their prices aren't a better deal.
No but this one is as close as it gets because they have strong respect for workers and unions and that my friend is the foundation of America, our Union
And that’s why people are knocking down the doors with new memberships at Costco‘s across the country because people recognize competent business policies when they see them
it's a good thing for the hard working employees that they earn more but won't Costco (et al) just raise their prices to cover the added expense?
Profit based public companies, money created out of thin air, reckless government policies have created a no win situation for the working men and women.
Understandable but drawing in the people that would have otherwise shopped elsewhere will give Costco more market share especially from Sam’s Club which is owned by Walmart (a Trump supporter). More market share = more profit, opens more stores and ultimately hires more people with higher pay.
I love me some Costco, I’m there about 2 times a week at least. I was talking to one of the cashiers, she said they make $19 an hour. If they raise the rate to $30+ that’s a really big boost.
Those over ready meals they have been saving my ass on dinner for 2 weeks. We had the chicken Alfredo tonight, it was good. But the stuffed bell peppers, ohh and the meatloaf. 😋
So I’ve started purchasing things from Costco that I used to get from Amazon. Don’t care about price. Would like to see Costco improve its delivery. But support Costco, fuck Amazon.
I'd love to work for them but there isn't one around here. My days of hard physical labor are pretty much done because of my back. I don't know what to do to make ends meet.
Just a note, you can actually buy fractions of Costco stock. Go to the website and they'll have a link. I never invested in stock before, but I will if it's a good company that's still supports DEI policies.
Fuck yeah man. I want to see corporations be responsible in this way wherever possible, because it tells me that making good money as a company and taking care of your employees AND your customers is a MUCH better way for companies to be run as opposed to exponential profit growth expectations only.
This is only place to go! They all know their job! Treat customers like that should be treated! Because there is no turnover every couple of years! And they don’t mind going to work everyday ! Because they are treated the way workers should be!
Read your own article. 30 is for top earners. The article clearly says that folks on the lower end will get 50 cents bringing then to 20. These headlines are grossly misleading.
I am so glad that I cancelled Sam’s Warehouse and went to Costco! I saw that Costco sales are up! Also, if you haven’t quit Amazon, it is time to do so. #resist #teslatakedown #bezosisevil
Costco is redefining the definition of what good/successful business is and means. You can profit like fuckin bonkers and still keep all your people happy and doing well. Thriving even! It's called sustainability. It works. It promotes happiness. It doesn't make you a homo or beta. It honors life.
Costco has been a leader in retail for a very long time. The pay is great! The benefits are even better. The work is hard, I mean really hard. But I do love my job there. Costco employee since 2012.
Thank you all for supporting us 🙏 💙
This is a Very Smart Company doing the right thing and the profitable thing all at the same time. Good for Costco💪 Also good for the Consumer, without your manpower and your spend earnings on things that the people who pay you own is no better than serfdom.
I suppose when you vote with North Korea, Belarus, Russia etc. you lower your standards & human rights suffer. Hes on a revenge trip - lawyers tonight after firing 1000s workers, CIA & FBI. Its unbelievable
Seems it may have to re-evaluate the rank due to the unprecedented rate of decline in current freedoms. Instead of narrowed, seems it should be repressed.
Don’t, unless you’re making less than $20/hr at your steel mill job. Because that graphic is incorrect, only the top earners get $30.20 an hour, while the lowest ones get $20/hr
I've completely broken my Amazon addiction. Zero orders in 2025 after daily visits from the blue truck for years and years. Have moved as much of that purchasing as possible to Costco.

THINK OF IT as the Grifter in Chief would say.
Costco donates 98% to Democrats.

Money at Costco. See how that works.
The astounding ignorance of the majority of the users I saw there was enough to make me queasy.

When will they learn that we have the power of the dollar! $$$$$
Answer: very very bad.
tis awesome 🤩 of costco to pay 💰 folks a living wage. ❤️🔥💞💝
Thank the Teamsters Union.
Americans love licking boot

Life is complicated, not simple and black and white as you might like it to be.
Your brain is mush Blue MAGA follower.
Actually, I wish I owned their stock!
Profit based public companies, money created out of thin air, reckless government policies have created a no win situation for the working men and women.
WHAT A CONCEPT
Jesus, exactly what kind of a society would THAT lead to❓️
#GoCostco
