My cat *definitely* has a clock, and it is no way synced to our flip-flops.
On a related note, my wife and I have noticed a significant uptick in the number of road kill carcasses on the sides of the roads lately. *We* change *our* patterns, but wildlife is delayed in getting the message.
My cat is on an identical schedule as yours, except he gently ascends my shoulder as I sleep so he can politely poke my nose with his claw. When I open my eyes, I find my vision filled by two bright yellow saucer-sized eyes.
I have received lectures about filling the food dish in the morning. I am an hour early now. I'd hate to see if I was an hour late. I don't get this lecture in the fall. 😐
Shit you not, when we changed our clocks in the UK, maybe 2 weeks ago or something, when I woke up the next day, I had to stare at my bedside clock for 15 groggy minutes to try and figure out whether or not I had actually changed the clock the night before. My brain just can't process this anymore.
I have an automatic feeder and I give her wet food once a day. The most important things I've learned are:
1) Leave the clock on the auto feeder wrong half the year.
2) Adjust the alarm on my phone by an hour twice a year.
3) It doesn't matter cause she'll still meow an hour before feeding.
That's genuinely why when this starts, I modify the feeding the times for all the animals. Sure our machines may have changed, and our internal clocks may adapt, but animals? They've probably got no idea wtf is happening.
So when it comes to my family's two dogs and three cats? They eat "early" now
My cat was already an early riser so turning the clocks back means I now get up in the middle of the night so she can eat about a tablespoon of food and watch cat games on YouTube

It is an artifact of World War 2. We don’t need it anymore.

Keeps her on the same feeding schedule.
She has no idea that's it's an hour later, according to the clock.
