It looks pretty plainly like the reporter has no idea, but there's this hope-against-hope part of me that they were losing their mind inside, like "OMG THAT'S MAHONEY", and somehow managed to maintain extreme professionalism in that moment, but it's more than likely, they just had no idea.

Yeah, and I've been wondering since yesterday if it was just the reporter being courteous to a private citizen and not a nerd like many people would've been, or if there was no recognition. Steve sounded mildly incredulous, even while he was busy trying to make the world safer, that they asked.

It's easy to forget that most movie and TV actors (with the possible exception of those like Oprah) are just regular people living their lives. We had a few who attended our church. So, yeah, if there's a big L.A. story, some of the man-on-the-street interviews will include people like Guttenberg.

I think it might be a thing for some people of a certain age. I saw that clip last night and he was in the report on Today this morning my wife watched while getting ready for work. All I could think was something like good for him. He seems like a good guy who’s just trying to help his community.
