I've always thought that if professional sports leagues truly wanted to affect change, they could simply cancel games completely to push for whatever issue they wanted. I think fans would fall in line with their team rather than their party.

My 9yo loves baseball and wants to play as long as he can (and works hard at it). And while I support him every step of the way, all the time he’s gonna spend in clubhouses and dugouts with MAGAt types as he goes through high school ball and possibly beyond legit worries me.
