He didn't even author it. Attorney Jay Harms did. And Phil Amato had no idea what the bill said. I watched the hearing, and he kept referring that Jay would answer most questions during his witness time. This bill was discussed over an hour and only stopped because they ran out of time.
If you are on Facebook the page "Missouri House Democratic Caucus" he has been directly commenting there. He is an adoption attorney that rep Amato contacted to write up the bill. I'm not sure any other direct contact information for him.
Thank you🙌 I don't have fbook, but that info helps! I'm planning on calling Amato & others responsible for this so I can annoyingly give them status updates about my uterus. Of course I'll also say why I think the bill is bad, but I want them to realize how CREEPY and INVASIVE and PERSONAL this is🤮
that's nice, but there's no positive compromise when it comes to people's bodily autonomy. They are literally trying to force women to carry babies to term and then birth them against their will. Those are the only goals they have. There is no such thing as a positive compromise on human rights.
I do agree with that. People should have their own bodily autonomy. My hope is that Rep Proudie can work with them in such a way to make a system for adoption that is more affordable, that is not forcing anyone into anything they are not comfortable with. But that will take A LOT more discussion.
That's not the goal, though, so it isn't going to happen. If they wanted to make adoption processes better, they would not be doing it by tracking pregnancies. Maybe they should worry about the countless children who are already in need of adoptions? Newborns are the EASIEST to adopt out.
Women in MO should do the reverse- start mailing his office used tampons and pads so he can keep track of their monthly cycles and know who’s not pregnant. They should also inundate his office with calls and provide fake ovulation schedules for his awareness.
I think a movement is called for. It’s a bit radical but I’m in favor of requiring males to track their ejaculate. When and where did those pesky buggers go? Let men prove they haven’t impregnated someone.
Why is it always creepy old white conservatives that want to track books and women? I mean the party of 'small government' really wants a very invasive system of government to track others.
"Small government" as in - only the things they want, and only the things that benefit themselves - but an infinitely huge and extraordinarily intrusive government for everyone else
I can't believe I'm saying this, but it would probably be a good idea to use fake/animal blood as not to give them DNA and certainly don't use a real name/mailing address in whatever letter accompanies the mailing
I was thinking versions of ketchup. I don’t want to torture his staff, but he needs to realize there is another way to do can do this. Men are so squeamish. They will regulate the shit of women, but can’t say the word period. Let’s help him get there. Need to revisit this.
Not a MO resident, so I can’t comment. But if I could, I would point out that for all the reasons they know gun registries are a bad idea, pregnancy registries are also a bad idea.
Sent my testimony yesterday! A pic of a paragraph of what I wrote.
The bill states that pregnant women “at risk for abortion” 👀 would be put in this database. It’s also alarming that it will keep records of services provided to pregnant women.
Also have your reps submit bills that would force men into tracking every time they ejaculate. If you want to truly be this draconian you gotta take it all the way.
"Maintain a central registry of each future father who is at risk for causing an abortion of his preconceived child and make the same available to all prospective adoptive parents."
Might as well turn Mar-A-Lago into a high security prison as you already have both of those things living there regularly, but for the last month he's been in the capitol. ...
...How about if a man's sperm results in an abortion they choose to either pay a big fine or get a vasectomy. They must get a signed contract with anybody that she will not have an abortion, or be held responsible for poorly managing the sperm resulting in death of a fetus.
It's hyperbolic, but we literally have all the tools to hold men equally responsible for abortion ...But I am assuming they don't because misogyny is their point, not "preventing abortions."
Well as long as they ejaculate into a woman and it causes a pregnancy, yeah have them tracked! Maybe an ankle monitor put on for 18 and a half years to make sure they know where they are & can pay that $2,000 a month support if they don't they can be jailed with a felony crime right?
I mean to take it further. Because according to the book that these lawmakers are so keen to use, it is a sin to spill one's seed without the intention of procreation. So, if a man ejaculates and has no intention of procreation that should be illegal as well.
No, take a national DNA registry of all men so that they can start paying child support as soon as the baby is born if they're not married. They can't go hide out in any other state. Even if the baby is adopted they're on the hook for prenatals and the birth
We should submit a bill for these men to experience the pain of childbirth. And forced to wear a weighted body suit for 9 1/2 months to simulate the toll on their bodies. They want to regulate reproductive health then they should know what it’s like. I’m sick of this shit.
I'm personally in favour of implanting a tapeworm to steal their nutrition, putting them on a hormonal rollercoaster, banning them from doing anything pregnant folks aren't allowed to do, and then rolling a probability chart on all the complications from tooth loss to death and applying them.
As a former HIPAA Security Officer, the thought of politicians getting their hands on our Protected Health Information (PHI) for any reason much less this intimidation and harassment witch hunt is gross.
No politicians should be ANYWHERE NEAR the doctor's office
Done. By my lights, this bill would violate the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendments to the Constitution of the United States, not that this matters to Christian Nationalists like Phil.
I like @burbnbougie.bsky.social 's "let the birthrate plummet to hell" philosophy. Fight the bill and in the meantime, don't give them anything to track.
Their obsession on this is an illness in itself. No bills they write will do one thing except make people in need go underground, black market,be forced into what's deemed criminal behavior.Right to Choose doesn't mean, your right to attack others for what they choose. That's the law needing a bill.
I am a Birthmother. I cannot begin to tell you the horrors I endured when I was pregnant and after I gave my daughter up for adoption. The "godly" people were so awful. This bill would subject women to the same treatment I received. It is traumatizing and vile. Sexually active males exempt!
This is what happens when impotent, crusty, old, white, men can't accept that their time has passed, and they can no longer attract what they desire. Instead, punish all of the young, fertile women who won't give them the time of day. It's all very primitive.
Can we call him and ask him to put up a file and let everyone know when he discharges his own “potential for life emissions”? You never know maybe there’s a list of people who are looking for those contributions.

Figures, he looks like Kane from Poltergeist 2.
a Xtian religious zealot.
- It's obviously a tool for state control later on when they get around to taking away women's' autonomy completely.
- Oh so they're letting the "right" (bet me white, protestant, &c.) people browse the Sears catalog for the baby they want?
Just submitted my testimony.

Fascism indeed!
straight, white, republicans?

Phil Amato has filed a bill to track pregnancies in the state.
