🥱 Still don’t see anyone exercising their 2nd Amendment right to remove the illegal government though; Americans are just rolling over and accepting it.
There are no surprises anymore; and WHY are they doing all this?
It’s BECAUSE THEY CAN and NO AMERICANS are STOPPING them.
Ok, representatives, just show us all who you really are so we know exactly who to get rid of. Your religious beliefs do not give you dominion over a woman's body! You religious zealots need to realize that your Handmaid's Tale fetish will not be allowed to happen.
Time for Missourians to show up AGAIN and tell them to shove it. All Americans need to understand that the PUSH from the hard Right will be relentless on all fronts (see Kari Lake in AZ) until the big money is taken out of the equation. They will try to break the will of the People.. keep voting!!
Even when the voters say what they want, these fuckers insist on over turning it. They are counting on voter fatigue. I hope it backfires spectacularly on them.
That's a given--Missourians constantly vote for ballot initiatives, and in the same election they'll vote for state reps that dedicate every waking moment to overturning or ignoring those initiatives.
Feel lucky, over here in KS we don't even have a citizen ballot petition system. Y'all got to tell the MO government what for. We just have to get shafted by conservative rural voters.
The blue dots of Lawrence and Manhattan are literally drawn inside a huge district in far Western KS, out by Garden City, with a tiny finger drawn east for the blue dots.
My Dad in Lawrence says their "rep" visited once 20 years ago, and the rep said he wouldn't support their values.
Sooooo in essence . . . What voters vote for, no longer matters. They are proving this in (whichever one it is I forget) Carolina with the bs they are pulling with the vote for the judge. So fucked up. Voters can't even get what they vote for anymore . . . and yet... So damn infuriating!
Amendment 3 was voted in November last year in Missouri by simple majority to make reproductive healthcare a (state) constitutionally protected right; it didn’t by itself overturn the state abortion ban but set up the ability to overturn the abortion ban that was automatically enacted in the state
The good news is they couldn't come to a compromise that is likely to pass. It's still a ban except for strict exceptions. That shouldn't get near 50%. They could have weakened 3 but they overreached
And well smoke ‘em again, with probably a bigger percentage. I’m not sure which is worse, my home state of Ohio, of this, my adopted state. Both were once purple states. Ugh.
I live on the Left Coast (not that it’s perfect here). I’m wondering if a voter referendum could be put on the next ballot for campaign finance reforms including donation AND spending limits!
That is how things going when supreme court, congress, senate and white house has a red majority... democracy ended, bullshit gets pushed through. Laws made to scilence the people and overrule constitution. The only serious party that would be able to turn this around is the military...
I’m afraid this country is lost. A Red State/Blue State split is inevitable, we just can’t admit it. Unless Trump and MAGA is destroyed, never to return, there is a war coming.
I was never on TikTok or Twitter (there is an account that I can’t delete and my one post is “Neil Young is the man”) so I am grateful that you are on Bluesky.
the state has been gerrymandered to shit and the rural areas are choking down Fox News and kissing Trump’s ass; maybe when shit blows up this summer some of them will see the consequences but… I’m too pessimistic to hope at this point. I live rural and surrounded by vote for Hawley signs.
Damn. So sorry . I’m trying to find a positive take . Farmers will be screaming soon. Maybe then they will listen . All joking aside … here is a liberal hug from California
The worst thing is about how these bills are written. Even if the pregnancy comes to term, there's no requirement here to enforce good parenting. With that stupid five thousand dollar bonus for having a child, this just makes pregnancy a pump and dump grab. We're gonna see a lot of orphans.
" Voters approved Amendment 3, which established reproductive health care, including abortion, as a constitutional right, in last November’s election."
There is a major war on women going on in this country and it's not getting talked about enough. I wouldn't be surprised to see legislation to make females personal property again.
As a rural MO obstetrician, I think I’m about done. They could have tried to help recruit docs and fix our abysmal maternal and infant mortality rates, but nooo… more maternity care deserts coming MO way.
Will the people of Missouri even care? They keep voting for good things only to have the legislature in Jefferson City refuse to listen and do the opposite. Why do they send these people back
If anyone says America is not a democracy, let them come to Missouri. We love democracy so much we'll vote on the exact same bill 10 to 15 times in 8 years.
I just can’t believe this, but then again I can, it’s Missouri. I moved when I graduated high school. After college and working I somehow convinced myself I could retire & come back! Damn I should have remembered, that 18y/o knew a hell of a lot more than I gave her credit for knowing!
Considering America is meant to be the land of the free, it seems as though it’s becoming more and more of a communist nation whereby people are not free to do what they want, including abort childbirth
I knew when they moved the time to today during work hours, they planned to move fast and reverse voters AGAIN. Republicans in Missouri do Not represent their constituents. They overturn the votes every single time.

WE THE PEOPLE are supposed to have the power.
Well WE THE PEOPLE are getting pissed and need to vote to get those “representatives” out of office.
Bury them at the ballot box!

Naaaaaaaaaaaaah
My Dad in Lawrence says their "rep" visited once 20 years ago, and the rep said he wouldn't support their values.
Kansas is only a bit better.
Good to hear you on Daily Beans. Thanks for fighting the good fight. These people are immoral.
tldr our state representatives ignore what we say we want when we vote by majority and overturn everything we vote for.
😡😡
My heart bleeds for my home state. And its women, especially.
I was never on TikTok or Twitter (there is an account that I can’t delete and my one post is “Neil Young is the man”) so I am grateful that you are on Bluesky.
Fuck these corrupt politicians.
either way.
Let that fucked up compromised Senate approve that.
They’ll be hearing from their constituents.😏
Fuck you, maga.
Fuck you straight to hell.
Now the state wants to limit these rights.
Perhaps a few of those women folk die along the way.
