I FOUND IT! Quite the turn of events. Luckily I had a second tab open in a different window with the old version and, with the slow precision of defusing a bomb, I copied that text over to the tab which had been saved as the NEW version (the one that lacked my writing).

Whew! Onward.

Thank you, but in a turn of events, I still had a second tab open elsewhere, which hadn't been updated to reflect the new (empty) tab, so I carefully copied it all over. Crisis averted. WHEW!

I am vicariously feeling your relief.

A couple of years ago I lost 10 pages of beautiful and inspired prose (at least in my humble opinion) to the ether. It was for a chapter that, hitherto, I was struggling with. I banged it out in about 90 minutes, and then it was gone.
