My first time gaming DnD is tonight.
I bought purple dice , silver numbering ,with a shimmering core just like these ones.
I paid more at the gaming store. I’m a newb.
Overall though there are *way* more expensive dice out there. $40 for a whole set isn't even that crazy in the dice collecting world. You could spend hundreds on some sets.
If you like rocks with pips on them, check out "DoubleSix" dice. They're twelve sided dice with 1-6 on them twice. They're just D6s that roll like D12s
can't have too many NRRs! (numerical randomizer rocks). I wish i could afford some of the gorgeous sets made from semi-precious stones from https://hedronrockworks.com dude makes absolutely STUNNING dice from all manner of fancy rocks.

I do like pretty dice, though.
Badum!
I'll see myself out.
