Neither personally. I feel like the left is still uplifts a settler colonial state (just like Black capitalism) and the right heavily copies European family crests. At least the left is a good graffiti opportunity but I'd prefer a new design that forwards Black American culture more blatantly.
I see this. I prefer the Soulaan flag because it doesn't shy away from the cultural melting plot that distinguishes Black American identity. It's so vitally emphasizing of the existence of us as a unified tribe/family that I appreciate. I also prefer flags that are a bit elevated as a marker.
I definitely prefer that one more than the US flag but I don't think the crest resonates with me bc the main emphasis is a sword. Design wise I'd prefer a plant with deep roots, a basket of food being shared or even a bird of some kind.
I think i like that its an Akrafena, a weapon meant for combat but repurposed for ceremony. I think a symbol that has a dual role in fight and diplomacy reasonates, but we got so many flags for good reason. We aint a monolith
Yes I personally could never want a sword for the flag but I know it means a lot to others. I think I saw other versions I really like before and tend to gravitate to those.
