what a genx-boomer thing to say
Matcha tea is 1000 years old and real matcha takes some preparation, which is meditative and was therefore a popular choice in buddhist monasteries in Japan. The matcha you get at coffee shops is not real matcha
It's not "trendy" or frilly or surprising. It's tea

There's no such thing as trendy tea. Tea is ancient.
There's also no such thing as trendy flavour
It's a deep and warm earthy flavour. Like damp forest soil on a warm summer day. Not everyone is into that! It's a good thing tea comes in so many flavours :)
