AI can not write from experience. It can only make a Frankensteinian representation of authors' writing, cobbling together bits from here and there into something piecemeal and plagiarized. The writing can't live.
Reading that in the same week my journalist wife was told at her job to “stop wasting time writing and use chatgpt to be faster” is insulting to say the least
I’ve never seen the answer to this question about AI: What’s the ultimate goal? Is it to create self-aware beings? To do what? Be our slaves? Replace us? If jobs are destroyed, who has the money to buy necessities? Even if it’s just to aid us (that’s the sales pitch) it’s rapidly becoming a crutch.
Consumers have the power to reject AI, which I will continue to do every day of my life.
I do not use chat gpt, I judge those who do for basic stuff they have a brain for, I do not use the features on search engines and I always force customer service ai to let me speak to a human.
I don’t think Sam Altman is the kind of person who has a good judgment of what is ‘good creative writing’. These people have built their whole wealth on the exploitation of the creativity of others without feeling any shame about it.
Artificial it is, Intelligence it is not. It is brute force machine learning on the creative writing of others.
Why does marketing AI works so well? Do we really think machines and robots can be intelligent?
Don't believe the greedy marketeers and tech bro's feeding on your fear.
Guardian needs to obviously tag AI generated content so readers can decide if they want it.
Very telling that the main pillar of the entire AI industry is spoofing that it is doing the work of real people.
This is an insult to the word ‘creative.’ How about we work on AI for things we don’t want or need to do so we have time to humans to do human things like CREATIVE WRITING
It reminds me of the guy who made an AI kids book in like 20 minutes and was bragging about it but it was absolutely horrendous. Didn't make any sense, terrible illustrations with dozens of mistakes.
These guys don't know what good is. They very obviously don't read.

I accidentally debunked his post last night trying to compare to their current public model.

Everyone stop using AI, it’s a terrible waste of resources for most applications
They have snake oil to sell and VCs need their pound of flesh.
Far too much invested to let it go. Regrettably.

Machine learning (it isn't intelligent - just marketing snakeoil) is all over the place already. Chat bot helplines ya de ya🤦♂️
But it is not the nirvana promised (I helped mentor a GSoC AI project last year...)

Artificial intelligence cannot be "creative"
It's just more stupid AI slop and hallucinations masquerading as narrative. Hard pass.
