I am working on a video about how I have been clearing my backlog and enjoying gaming again but the tl;dr in case it never comes out is I made a long list and a short list of games to beat and I have to finish one from that list before I try something new.
The short list is for choice paralysis it's 3-5 games I can go to if I can't decide on one. And the list of games I beat makes the whole process itself feel like a game.
I'm currently trying to platinum every Castlevania game outside of the Lord of Shadow and Castlevania 64 games. Just so I have one, ONE series off the list.
It's a legally binding contract, you must now complain about your backlog, talk incessantly about games you don't like and argue about what other people want to play.
True! Having games like Mario Party Jamboree, Rivals 2, & Buckshot Roulette multiplayer come out on top of other games I haven't finished is a nightmare!
Complain about backlog->Games go on sale->buy more->Complain about backlog. Tis' a cycle that demands an extended vacation to get through that'll never come cause you end up playing your favorites again anyways.
I could probably finish my backlog if I just stopped worrying about it and played the damn thing. It’s not healthy. But it does make a real gamer, so, y’know, trade offs.
Here’s the thing. I get it. Too many games, not enough time, right? But if you think about it, that’s alllmost like turning playing games into a kind of work. Once that occurred to me, I was like, gross. So now I try not to worry about it. Play a game you want to. Enjoy it! Play the next one. 🎮
Are you truly a real gamer if you have a backlog ive played all 173 games in my steam library😎 I will admit i haven't finished them all some were pretty bad 🤣
My philosophy is that eventually I will play the games I bought, cause if i treat it like i need to play through all the games i have it’ll feel like a chore…
Still gonna complain tho lmao
Although I am just as much at fault for this😅, the Youtube series by DarylTalksGames about his backlog has really helped me feel more at ease about this
My backlog is so big at this point that I have no idea what games are there anymore. Occasionally when the mood strikes I'll go "shopping" in it to find a new game to play, but mostly I end up getting something new lol
I would love to clear my backlog, but what am I supposed to do, stop playing the games that give me guaranteed dopamine to play a bunch of games that MIGHT give me dopamine? Psssh
I've made peace with my backlog bout two years ago. And since I made it a point not to buy unless I plan to finish...
That last about 3 games before my backlog filled again
I’m glad I don’t really have a backlog. I only get the games I’m interested in, and I know I’ll play. Granted, there are always games I want to play and have to wait to get them cause other games I found to be more important for me to play.
I slowed my playing to be a parent, then inherited much of my son's collection when he moved to Florida. He only took his PS5 and gaming computer.
I have a PS2, PS3, PS4, XBOX 360, 2 Nintendo Switches, DS, 3DS, and a 7500 in 1 Raspberry Pi I bought in Korea.
I'm about to retire, so I have a plan.

No, you're the real King here. 👑🫶
Also I have another list of games I beat
It's part of the lifestyle.
Now my backlog is larger...
Still gonna complain tho lmao
Then you're there grumbling as you start making space (or just give up and go back to what you were playing before)
Looking at my backlog and saying to myself, "I don't feel like any of this.."
Then buying Powerwash Simulator on another pissing platform because why not.
This is the way
No time... And no spine
That last about 3 games before my backlog filled again
In fact, it's part of the reason I plan to live forever - so I can finish my backlog of video games, books, movies, tv shows, board games, RPGs, ...
Oh boy a sale."

Well, you just don’t talk about backlogs in mixed company, dear. That’s not a thing.
PLUS ALL THE GAMES ON EPIC STORE AND GOG
