Double the average rate actually: Teslas have a fatal crash rate of 5.6 per billion miles driven, Kia is 2nd with a rate of 5.5, Buick is 3rd with a 4.8 rate. The average fatal crash rate for all cars in the United States is 2.8 per billion vehicle miles driven.
Dear Ralph Nader,
PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER BOOK, FAST, BEFORE THE NHTSA IS DISMANTLED BY ELON & VIVY AND THEIR TRAVELING ROADSHOW.
No rush. We have until Jan 20, 2025.

My co-worker had one. Only lasted one year. Had so many issues with it, very cheap looking when you are up close and inside. He had alot of electrical issues with it. He ended up going back to a gas powered car.
Part of this is pure torque. Anyone who's driven an EV knows they just JUMP.
I've been thinking that as younger drivers wind up inheriting their folks' hand-me-down EVs this is going to get worse. Peeling out in an EV is just too much fun.
the 10 most dangerous cars are the Hyundai Venue (13.9 cars per BILLION vehicle miles), Chevrolet Corvette (13.6), Mitsubishi Mirage (13.6), Porsche 911 (13.2), Honda CR-V Hybrid (13.2), Tesla Model Y (10.6), Mitsubishi Mirage (10.1), Buick Encore GX (9.8), Kia Forte (8.1), and Buick Envision (8.0).
"Tesla’s cars do get high vehicle-safety ratings, consistently receiving five stars from the NHTSA’s rating program. ... according to NHTSA data, Tesla vehicles have the lowest probability of injury in all the cars that the agency has tested."
This study might not be entirely accurate. Most accidents occur near your starting or ending point, but the study doesn’t account for the range limitations of electric cars compared to gas cars. It based the ratio on miles driven. It seems like there aren’t controls for differences in driver age.
Elon musk, a billionaire, was never the darling of the left, a political grouping defined by opposition to wealth disparity and exploitation, 2 things that billionaires exemplify. You are a fucking moron
Musk fails at running his own company. Let’s turn him loose on reorganizing an organization that’s way larger and more complicated. What could go wrong? 🤷
Of course I'm an anecdote. So let's go to the primary source of this recent analysis of the FARS database. When you get past the cherry picked focus of the https://sherwood.news article, the picture is far more muddled and nuanced. Practice media literacy always. https://www.iseecars.com/most-dangerous-cars-study#v=2024
Thank you! Same article says that Tesla consistently rates high for vehicle safety! Why is everyone so down on Teslas?! I own a Tesla 3, and also this bumper sticker: "I bought this before we knew Elon was crazy."
The iseecars report doesn't include ADAS vs manual driving crash stats as part of their analysis of FARS. In fact if Autopilot was enabled in a dozen fatalities over the years, it would be a small fraction of the total of fatalities found in the iseecars analysis. So what does that prove about AP?
Ya... and the fact that Elon lied and said they have self-driving, and their marketing said or implied as much. So Tesla drivers trust the cars SEMI-automonous features far more than they should and have accidents.
Anyone else would be in prison for those lies, let alone sued to oblivion.
I despise Elon btw and don't disagree. I think we need to be careful though and not simply attribute every Tesla fatality to the FSD or Autopilot system. The analysis above does not address when these types of features were in use or not for any of the manufacturers on the lists in the report.
I'm not saying it's a fault of the system, I'm saying it's a fault of Elon and companies lies about it. If it's used as the engineers intended it's fine.
But yes another big factor is probably that they are more likely to be owned by impatient/reckless tech chuds.
They are one narrow analysis over a couple years. I know I'm an anecdote. I also know how data can be misinterpreted or cherry picked to fit a longstanding narrative. We don't need to point to flawed analyses about cars to oppose the Musk man's BS in politics and society.
Everything in context my friend. The interpretations I'm seeing around this thread are flawed, not necessarily this one analysis from icars which https://sherwood.news and people here are cherry picking from.
Your this post is more valuable than your first post about your 6-year ownership of a tesla. It’s not clear why the crash rate is higher yet, which needs more study.
It is different. Far worse. They keep injuries from being reported by doing shit like sending people by Lyft to the ED of the local hospital so that they don’t have to call an ambulance, which they would need to report.
I’ve had my model S for ten years. It’s a great car. Still going strong. Very safe (unless you’re a teenager). I’ll never buy an ICE again. Musk is still an asshole!
It’s funny how some Tesla drivers are using their individual experiences trying to discredit statistic data. It’s like using a few data points on a chart to discredit the whole chart.
This isn’t new. Years ago Reveal News did an investigative report on injuries sustained by workers at a tesla plant and what is done to avoid reporting injuries. It’s enraging.
This is an article from years ago. Apparently nothing has really changed.
Happens when you fire all of your good employees and lie to the public on a regular basis, while at the same time bowing and cowering to Donald Trump, instead of using your influence to find a cure for Asperger’s Syndrome in which you personally have yourself🤔.
In California, Tesla manufacturing lines are a majority temp employees . No benefits, long hours no OT because 3 / 12 hr shifts isn’t 40 hours … oh but free cereal and milk in the break room … what do you expect
This is fabricated and a complete lie. It’s actually the opposite. Tesla is the safest car on the road.
Come on Seth don’t make blue sky into a place where you spread lies
This is why Musk wants to shut down these government departments, they are holding up his dangerous plans.
There is a whole story about his plans on YouTube.
He just doesn’t care how many fatalities there are, he just sees them as bureaucrats stopping his master plans
"Teslas get high vehicle-safety ratings, consistently receiving five stars from NHTSA’s rating program. Data shows Teslas using the company’s “autopilot” assisted-driving technology are safer than the US average; Teslas have lowest probability of injury in all the cars that the agency has tested."
The National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration will be targeted by the South African soon, he doesn't want pesky facts getting in the way.
The drivers I find are morons. Too stuck up and distracted while driving mostly. Not all, but most. They make horrible lane changes and think the world is going to make way for them.

Maybe they are all in Dallas?
Does anybody have real first hand data?
It's almost time for a class action lawsuit and major fines on the guy running that shoddy operation

Glitzy, glam and exciting on the outside.
But actually...
Will ruin the lives of those you love.
My Chevy Bolt can be taken to any local Chevy dealer.
Once MAGA Musk arrives in January reports like this one will abruptly disappear!
I've been thinking that as younger drivers wind up inheriting their folks' hand-me-down EVs this is going to get worse. Peeling out in an EV is just too much fun.
Elon has all that money and can't build reliable vehicles.

Not that Elonia cares about either, but he cares even less about people who didn't buy his car.
From the article:
"...according to NHTSA data, Tesla vehicles have the lowest probability of injury in all the cars that the agency has tested"
Drivers should be warned to stock up on marshmallows and weenies.
There is a whole story about his plans on YouTube.

🤣
Why are people buying his cars? 🤦🏻♀️
FSD will kill you and your family.
Not the safety issues, the Trump-admini$tered NTSB.
