it's like saying, "you shouldn't be depressed because someone else has it worse." it helps no one. if those statements bother you, then so should dismissing people who experience transphobia; and if neither of those statements bother you, you're just a prick.

also, the canaries at least were cared for. protected, and kept safe as much as was possible within the framework of their role. the miners actually loved the canaries, and there's countless little devices made for the sake of preventing death. we aren't even treated nicely enough to be the canary
