I keep thinking of the time Kelvin Mackenzie went on Pointless Celebrities and nobody stopped to think about whether that was a bad idea until after it had gone out.

In fairness to Richard Osman, which I rarely am, he did tweet back then that he *had* expressed his misgivings at Kelvin's presence at the time of recording (but he was under a barrage of annoyed tweets from the likes of me at the time so might have just said that)
There was an implication that his partner on the show (John Sergeant) deliberately threw it to eliminate them because he didn't fancy working with him either, but I find that difficult to believe.
I know Richard Herring has said that he was just on call as a standby when he lived near TVC in case a celebrity withdrew, so I guess some are booked as individuals as well as pairs.
I've still not forgotten the battering I got on Twitter for responding "you could have just gone home". That left me so angry I stopped speaking to some of the people involved.
I used to like Would I Lie To You, but both the McKenzie appearance and the chortling reaction to Sharon Osbourne describing endangering an employee’s life in a fire (and her contempt for his distress and fear) really chilled me.
It was *that* repulsive, yes, why would I forget it? And it’s not as if anyone ever apologised. A disgraceful incident like that and the Osbourne one tells you a lot about the lack of integrity of everyone involved.
