I would love to hear more about how you managed to foster this level of excitement - it was always a struggle this time of year with lots of other fun things (shows, fayres, concerts etc) grabbing student attention.

Had decent traction from having a department Insta account. Kids interact/ engage with stories more than posts.
I put up a story a week ago with a countdown, posted a GCHQ puzzle a day since then and then posted the stories shown in the pic with some screen recordings of BBC breakfast this am.

There are a few extra things we found. The dot/dash pattern of Santa's sleigh has a meaning... and the types of animals on the map (eg lobster/unicorn) I think they're just supposed to be fun things to spot, rather than part of the main puzzle.
