I’m giddy with happiness and relief. They started counting at 6pm and pretty much called it at 8pm. We are at 86 to 38 seats! Sent their party leader packing out of his own seat as well. Clear rejection of trumpism.
Our Conservative leader went and found someone to give up a seat for him in Alberta, but I suspect this will make him weaker.

When Albo mentioned kindness as a core part of Australian values in his speech, I could not have been prouder to be Australian. Penny Wong said it is well.
He also called it out when there was a negative response to Peter Duttons name saying that in Australia, we treat everyone with respect.

My daughters called me to celebrate the fact that Australians rejected the party that wanted to espouse trumpism and sow hate, racism and division in our country. That ideology was roundly denounced. The incumbent government gained a huge majority. It's been a great night for 🇦🇺
Well, in Canada we went from leftist to more centrist, even though it's the same party. But yes, the Trump effect hurt our right wing party, which was previously leading in the polls by A LOT.
Yep we've taken a look at the US hellscape and decided yes... We want that for ourselves. Misery is a valuable commodity and we can't have the Americans hoarding it all.
Hopefully, once #FarageRiots starts sacking everybody working for the local councils and de-funding voluntary organisations that look after vulnerable people, his voters (who are just the racist rump of the Tory party anyway) will realise that the leopards-eating-faces-parties eat everybody’s face.
