Microsoft charging $50-$60 for a dramatically overhauled and updated version of Oblivion sure is a stark contrast to Nintendo asking $90 for higher-resolution Zelda.

I mean....if you already own Zelda the upgrade cost is $10 so this is pretty misleading. By comparison I own the original Oblivion and to upgrade it's gonna be $50. Unless I'm completely misinformed this is a pretty janky comparison lol.
The comparison between the full price of both of these games is in no way misleading. That's how much they're charging people buying it for the first time. Not everyone owns it, otherwise that price wouldn't be a thing at all.
If you look at it that way sure, but it's still misleading when leaving out the upgrade path. Nintendo is offering one, MS isn't. You could even pick up a second hand copy of Zelda on the cheap, and do the upgrade for $10. This isn't as black and white as you made it.
The MSRP is as black and white as it gets. Are there workarounds to get it cheaper? Sure. But that's the price they put on it that you have to work to avoid.
Oblivion Remastered is not a simple upscale of the original game. It’s completely remade in a new engine with original assets. It’s basically a new game. The S2 version of the Zelda games is just a slightly enhanced port. The two are not at all comparable.
It's funny how The Gamers can look at something they'd usually throw a hissy fit over (charging full price for an uglier version of a 20 year old game) and twist it into a good thing if they can use it to attack whoever they've collectively decided is the current industry bad guy.
Or are they meant to sell subscriptions? One is a $50 upgrade to a game I own but also including with a sub, and the other is a $20 upgrade also included with a sub.
Microsoft seems to be the only company trying to end the console wars. Say what you want about their other practices, but they seem to hate us less than the other companies.
When you lose the majority of players to another console maker, you tend to look as good as possible to get people back. Did you expect them to not be the "nice guy" right now?

Also, you can play Oblivion on Game Pass for $10.
